Yes. It's just extra butcher block countertop material that I cut down.

well, the day I've been dreading is here. Taking Brodie to the vet this afternoon to do the deed. The necrosis on the 'main' tumor is totally out of hand, more tumors appearing. His appetite is waning. It's time.

Spent the last several days pouring over old pics and phone videos. Him at 5 months old, walking off leash, total recall, catching and returing the frisbee. This dog was never trained, he simply picked it up. Desire to comply/assist/support so strong, combined with his intellegence. He just got it. Even these last weeks, I'd have to lay him down to change the dressings on his wound, he'd act like I'm the one being tended too, and he'd quickly lye where he thought I wanted him, right side up to do the deed...

Last night was an amazing autumn night. Starry sky, deer, as always, in the yard feasting on acorns. We stayed out quite a while. He chased the deer off, seemingly not satisfied til he sees the white tails bounding into the woods. Then he tree'd a fat raccoon in that giant oak seen in yesterdays deer pic. As I was looking up at the raccoon, a shooting star. Too much.

    Best. dog. ever.
Pour one out for Brodie, folks. I'd be much obiged.

So sorry to hear about Brodie. Losing your best fur friend is super hard. I have a 3 year old Aussie (my second one) and they are the best dogs. Hang in there.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csEmAfx9QTg Skip Ewing's 'Road Dog' is my newest favorite song, remembering Lady the border collie. She was at the shelter in Dillon, MT and transported by Dad & Mom to Victor, MT, where she spent many years on the ranch. Riding with Dad, I'd wind up with her on my lap when she needed the right side window... Whenever I'd arrive to work on needed projects, we'd run around "crazy dog" and I became "border collie masseuse" through the dogs' grapevine (according to a pup from Pinehurst, ID, who immediately settled down in the back of his ranch truck). Remembering all the dogs I've given rides to...

I finally got the wheels for my pops Miata back from being straightened. Threw them on last night and decided to drive it to work this morning so I could asses the success or failure of getting rid of the vibration. It was so damn foggy on my drive in I didn't dare go fast enough to find out, which was just as well since I hit a big patch of black ice in a curve. Full four wheel slide with a lot of counter steering, and I managed to keep it out of the guardrail and pointed the right way. I bet there will be a diamond trickling out of my pants leg if my asshole ever lets go of its grip on my trousers. If it was my car I wouldn't be having such a reaction, I probably would've gone "wheeeee" and circled back for a second go at it, but not when it's my pops car...

edit: added picture (cute little 14 inch wheels)

PHEW! Nice job keeping it on the road. There's some ice fog down this way this morning. Very ominous.

Glad you didn't have a bad time in your Dad's car. I'm sure he is too. Good reminder that the weather is changing and we all have to be prepared.
