Timely convo. Friday, I did one of those things you look back at....
My good friends bike is down. He Went out for a ride back in October, gave him trouble. He didn't like the sound to the degree that he called for a tow. Upon arrival at his house, the dude DROPPED his back off the flatbed. So now he's got damage and mechanical.

Friday was mild here and a couple o' motobros wanted to play hooky and do lunch. I mentioned it here. We followed through. Being blessed with a couple of machines, I offered my new baby, my hotrod GRiSO to Eddie for the day. 72 with 60 years of riding under his belt. A lunch run is a pretty safe bet. Oh well, good intentions. He went down. Low speed, he's ok, but the shift lever on the bike is tweaked enough that something ain't right. Anyway...to the point.

We were in the city. Had to tuck the bike into the corner of a business lot, ride home, collect my truck and go get the bike. I have a trailer, and I have the MoTow. With the urban setting and rush hour looming, it was a no brainer. The trailer would have been do-able of course, but relatively, it would have been a total pain in the arse. I've thought the MoTow was cool and had it's place, but this sealed it. There were several of us, and after watching me pull in in my Tacoma with nothing attached, eyebrows raised, and in 15 minutes pull away with the bike, underway, zipping through traffic, they were impressed. It has it's place.

to your point, their are limitations! bikes gotta weigh less than 600# and have an exposed rear wheel to 15", so my cruiser style bike can't go on it. Also, you've got to have tire size specific plates on it. Obviously if you have multiple bikes you can have multiple sizes, but the swap is a PITA. In my case though, it's set up for this bike and super convenient. Saves a ton of money over a trailer, which I like. Less wear on the bike than pushing it around the garage. I'm definately a fan now.

this is Friday's collection photo. Happy f'ing Birthday...

Do you mind if I copy that pic to the Connecticut thread?
Guy there is a Goose rider and would also find the MoTow interesting.

No problem. People tend to get pretty animated talking about this thing. Mostly negative. But when it works, it works.

He's a good friend. He'll take responsibility as necessary. I feel bad for the guy. He's got a cloud following him around this year.. A friend in NEED is one thing. This wasn't that sort of situation. He and I should have thought better of it. I have another good friend who rides. He won't so much as ride a freinds bike in a parking lot for just this reason.

    Lesson learned.

This video actually shows the mounting process, as well as a bike underway. Nice Pro video. May do more to explain things.

    I actually saw this happen…
Kid jacked a car up and went to get a jack stand for a tire repair..
Car was back on the ground when he came back.

    Happy Humpday.

Daughter closed on her house in Buxton. Woot! Hope to get there to see the place in late January. Baby comes in February. I'm officially old.
