I’ll bite. Im a former aviation mechanic and will say the “manufacturer specified repairs/maintenance” over the years that we used to have to abide by didn’t help the cause any. Some stuff made sense, others did not. You could tell when an engineer with soft hands came up with things. But bolts allegedly missing off the assembly line and lights warning of issues and being switched over to Alt rather than investigated, etc etc.. It was more than likely a group effort. The ol’ swiss cheese model.
Flight 191 would be a good example of shit mechanics when you use a god damned forklift to remove an engine vs the manufacturer specs that took an extra 200 working hours per aircraft. Anything to save a buck.

Fair enough, but the plane that had a wheel fall off on take off? That wheel/tire had to have been replaced several times since the plane was built. No way that's on bowing. The panels that fell off others... were they ever removed for work/maintenance? If so, were they properly attached or was this guy the one putting the bolts back in?

100% there are manufacturer eff ups, but on decade old planes I'm not sure it's on them anymore.

Wheels fall off anything when you beat the crap out of it enough. Planes, cars, lawnmowes. Hell (Mike probably knows this) the preflight on a 172 involves checking the firewall mount for the front gear to make sure its not cracked from the hard landings. Not on Cessna, just from it being a student-friendly plane and students having a habit of attacking the tarmac like a friggin barbarian and landing front gear first. Certain planes earn reputations when things keep cropping up. Boeing had a whistleblower, the news is all over it, NTSB investigated and found issues, and people love pointing fingers. Im sure airbus has issues like any manufacturer but theyre not called to the carpet at the moment. Its the news. If it bleeds, it sells.

Not touching my driveway at all. All rutted up from the warm weather so it's impossible to get the snowblower across it. Letting it firm up and do what it wants. I'll borrow the plow from my work if it comes to it :bananadead:

Spent a couple hours shoveling today split between two shifts. Sleeting now, but that will fade around here by tomorrow afternoon - high of 36F, black tar and good sun exposure.
A wide driveway is great to have most of the time. Each time I haul out the snow-tools I get a bit closer to a plow or blower. Too stubborn.

Well, I may be playing with legos, but my wife has perfected the skill of making bread. Fresh from the oven with some maple butter.... hot damn that's a treat!

    Wow
No power anywhere. Lost it around 10pm. Ice ice ice.
4am I decided to get the gen going. 58° downstairs made me move. After two buckets of hot water I got into the boxes. Not good people. If you are up here. Stay put…..
Real bad on the roads. Fire trucks on the street. People yelling.
