Well, went bowling and I was told “let’s see you work some magic”.
Was handed this bowling ball.
Apparently, it got caught in the ball return mechanism.
It’s a marbleized finish and no way can be duplicated.
That’s a lot of damage. Mixed up some custom colored epoxy and will grind out the gouges and attempt to get it usable…

 

So does everyone just bring you projects? Are you the local handyman?


Can I drop off my mower for you to go through and get all ready for mowing season?

 

I started refinishing my bowling balls and made a machine to help me. Some of the bowlers saw my work so I have done a few.


This repair is a whole new level.
Sure, drop it off. I’ll get to it at some point this year. I have lots of fishing to do..

 

You're a class act, Mike. I just think it's cool that so many people recognize your skills and ask for your services. I'm on the other side of the country, otherwise I'd take you up on it, but not for free.

 

Honestly I love the stories of cars falling on them. Shame it doesnt happen more often.

I gotta scrape it in the am then tomorrow night do a 600 grit, 1000 grit, 2000 grit, 5000, grit and then polish. The guy bowls Monday’s, Tuesday’s, Thursday’s so I’m going back Thursday and if I can get it to look good, and he can use it that night, it will put a feather in my cap for sure.

 

Reminds me of the customer that dropped off a dump truck lift cylinder and said "oh yeah can I have it back by noon?" In a joking tone. Took that shit as a challenge and had it done by 11:45 and he was worried I was going to charge a rush fee for it being done same day

Scraping 3/4 cured epoxy…

 

Nice work Mike,have you ever used a “cabinet scraper “, you can get a little more aggressive. This one was made from an old saw blade, sharpening it on an old drill bit. Amazing how sharp it can get. Old carpenter showed me that trick.
When you run the scraper edge over the drill bit, it rolls that edge, razor sharp.
