    Hazardous waste.
Oil can filter was hazardous waste until you crushed it.
We had to crush ours of before throwing it out.

The 4Runner came with them too when it was called the Trail Edition. I think around '17 they started calling it the TRD Off-Road. They kept the same wheel but painted the insets black. I actually prefer the Trail version a little better.

But I do enjoy having to remove the drain cap on my filter housing and getting covered in oil trying to pop the drain fitting doohickey back off, then still somehow getting oil all the frig over me when I unscrew the housing itself. Engineering at its finest. (Theres a fumoto valve and different housings but im lazy)

I guess I've done so many cartridge filter changes on so many different Toyota engines over the years I don't think much about it. Having the proper housing wrench and hoping that the guy/gal before you understands what 15 ft lbs is the key

At the Harbormaster's Office in Cordova, AK, in the 1990s, we learned the difference between used engine oils being labeled "hazardous waste" and simply "waste oil". The former is a lot more expensive to get rid of. Waste oil (25,000 gallons a year) could be burned to heat the public school and solid waste bailer plant for heat recovery, and we burned sorbents and filters in the 55 gallon drum Smart Ash incinerator (ordered two from Anchorage during the time I was there, since we burned often.) We figured out how to burn the liquid waste oil, and the couple in ANC who sold the Smart Ash incinerators provided instructions on that process later.
When I drove past Antelope, Oregon a couple years ago, I remembered the Grizzly Construction foreman known as "the Bhagwan" at Port Snettisham Hydro south of Juneau. That company installed the last generator, fed by tapping into another lake from below, and their trailer camp came from the auction of the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh's settlement. The City of Cordova purchased the 12,000 gallon from Grizzly Construction to receive our community's used oils at the Harbor. [Barge containers full of crushed ice were hauled to Alaska and stacked at Port Snettisham, for use in the adit drilled to receive the rock falling when the the last rock layer was blasted into the bottom of the lake, which prevented damage to the valve in the tunnel to the new turbine.]
Time to sweep out the bed and plug the (drain) holes that admit dust in the side cubbies, and fit the Bambed bed sliders... :hattip:
