I remember when you could say all kinds of nonsense, in the “Editorial Section “. If you were caught lying in the news section, you had to print a retraction or get sued. Remember when Dan Rather got fired, not for lying, but couldn’t prove his sources, which the story was completely true. “ The times are changing “.

Same. We get the local paper to find out what happened at Planning & Zoning, store and restaurant openings and closings, that sort of news. And who got arrested for being an idiot.

Hell yeah. I had a 6 mile bike ride. But the weekend paper was so large that I couldn't carry it on my bike. So my father drove me on Saturday and Sunday in exchange for a free subscription. Yep, I actually had to eat a bit of profit. That's the only way he would do it.

78-80 here. Was on the street the night of the Blizzard of '78, little less than an hour north of Boston. Several here know what that was like. I'll never forget. I was 12. Forever stamped 'winter' on my brain. Every single snowfall, consciously or not, is viewed through that lens.

And people were so happy to get their paper! Power was often out, TV signal came through the air to a piece of wire on the roof, so that wasn't working well even if you had power. But the paper came...

    Times have changed.

    Boomer mode - deactivate.

Well, officially I'm not...but I certainly identify with 'good ol' days' sentiment more and more as time goes by.

Rock Solid Gen X er here.

I don't even know what delineates the generations honestly ... I think I'm probably Gen X too. But I've always gotten along best with older guys 15 years my senior. :notsure:

    What scale is your railway?

I haven’t touched it in years, but have at least 10 large plastic storage containers full of HO and HOn30. Saving it for retirement.

That was a brutal winter....even down here. I was in the 3rd grade. We missed a fair bit of school that winter.

I'm leading edge Gen X with holdover Boomer mind ... apparently. :notsure:

... or, as Sunshine is fond of pointing out, I'm just crazy. :der:

Depends on what marketing firm you ask. The generations are all made up for the sake of marketing to groups and go off of what it generally effective. You can find some that have Gen X going as late as early 80's and some cut it off before 1980.

The only time we lived in base housing was 1970-72 where I delivered the Minneapolis newspaper around the block at Grand Forks AFB, NoDak Throta. 10th and 11th grade in town at Red River SHS, which at the time, was beyond the edge of town on a hill. When the Red River flooded some years later, the Red River Senior High School (gr. 10-12) was the refuge place. One block was large enough during the winter, with wind and snirt (snow and dirt) blowing from the west. I found out several years later that those were peak years in the population cycle of the snowshoe hare, as Dad would take us hunting the creek bottoms along the Pembina River (Cavalier had the Army's Spartan Anti-Ballistic Missile base, and the town of Walhalla was in that area, too.) when the temperature rose to zero, and it was warmer in the brush, crawling under it while moose had easily stepped over it. Watched ruffed grouse walking in the snow, pushing it ahead of their chests/breasts...

In other news... This morning the Bambed bed sliders were installed, after trimming the rear Bambed part to fit with the bed stiffeners. Photos...
