    Random musings...

The heater in the Tundra is like a blast furnace. Quite impressive.

It's that big engine producing all that heat!

I will say though the heater on the 4th gen Tacoma is very good so far despite a little engine heating everything up. Although the heated seats and steering wheel make it seem like I'm cheating :anonymous:

They have those active shudders behind the grill right? That could be part of the reason why it heats up faster.

The Fitty warms up really fast with the grill shudders.

I suppose it's time to go 'bust mine' and see if Barcelona Red's battery will charge with the jump box within the tight quarters of the garage bay. That's the last thing to do before taking it to the Hippo Car Wash and across the street to Parker Toyota... Up the river to Glacier Undercoating for NHOU frame treatment in Kalispell later this fall or early spring.

I 'spect the tailgate seal to be much better than driving up the single lane forest road to Bear Creek Overlook in June 2022 to spread Dad's and Mom's ashes. Region 1 USFS (Northern Rocky Mountain Region) has consolidated ranger districts and national forests, cutting expenses, including road maintenance. That road was mostly sand, except where the (rare) grader had plowed chunks of granodiorite out of the road on his way down (after I met him going down to make the turn around the last switchback as I was going up). I posted about that trip (with photos), thoroughly dusted, 4-H and 1st gear all the way down to Red Sun Labyrinth. The old friend and owner built the addition on Dad's and Mom's place while I worked as his helper that month before going to Sitka as a USFS fish biologist. When we spotted each other across the pasture, he hollered, 'What happened? We got old!"
Yeah, but we're happy to be here, older and smart enough not to do the ballsy things we did when we felt "young and bulletproof," as my neighbor put it when telling me about landing his F-4B on the USS Kitty Hawk early in the Vietnam "Conflict" with one engine shot out (and both hydraulic systems, since the plumbing ran between the two engines). Normal approach was 140 knots, his approach was double that, and descent rate was likewise dramatically increased. I asked if they dented the deck on impact, and he just said that the airplane's damage resulted in it being pushed over the side. After five back operations in Japan, he was sent to Saigon to work in the frag order office, the only officer on night shift with a Marine Sgt. for company. Being in his early twenties at the time, he said it would have been smarter to fly alongside the carrier and eject, but youth and the attitude "We can do this!" overcame that.
