    ROFLMAO…

    I am going to ask a dumb question.
    Why only 2 cement blocks?

    I thought there would be 2 on the stair end also…
    Just trying to learn something…

    I know it’s secured to the stairs.

    I added blocking between the posts, down low. I attached that end of the landing with structural screws. Much like you would with a ledger board along a house. I added joist hangers for added support, although with such a short span, probably overkill.

    That reminds me of some of the cars that are shown on the 'Just rolled in' YT channel.. You get a feel for the daily sh*t that good mechanics have to deal with from crappy customers.

    @Sig45 -

    would it be asking too much if I posted a pic of something I framed, to get your feedback on if I should have another vertical post? I'm starting to second guess myself on progress with a recent project.

    Not at all. Go ahead. I'm by no means an expert/engineer, but I'll do my best to provide feedback.

    Except we like that long freeze before a snow cover insulates things, as the following summer will start with fewer biting flies, and bark beetles (1" diameter and larger provides enough overwinter habitat for the larvae). Caribou hunting out of Copper Center in 1996, we were able to sit and eat our lunches next to a muskeg pond without much bother, and locals at McCarthy noted a similar lower population of no-see-ums in August 2008 during the Cordova Centennial Aviation History Weekend, a DC-3 overnight excursion to also celebrate McCarthy's 2007 centennial. First wedding in the air for Cordova since 1929, and the first DC-3 passenger flight since 1965 (according to Ken Smith, a son of Merle "Mudhole" Smith. I found a 1/48 scale kit of Ken's brother's PA-18 on straight floats, but the box art confused me, since we knew his Cub in the weathered state of Piper White as a yellowed cream, and the red nearly pink.)
    Last Friday, I picked up a pink 1/24 scale Axial Base Camp RC truck as my granddaughter wants "a pink remote control car" for her 6th birthday. The body sort of resembles a 3rd Gen... I had so much fun setting it up and re-boxing it for her, that I went back to the hobby shop (as I discussed with them) on Tuesday and bought the pearl white version for me. Have a set of oil shocks to install on mine (and a set for hers, later), clearance sale markdown to $10 from $25. Other than that, these are stockers...

    Thanks, it's greatly appreciated.
    Here's my hack attempt at using MS Paint to dimension a pic..

    My concern is- have I over spanned the double 2x8? I look at the charts for building codes for deck construction, I'm allowed to span a single 2x8 10' to a deck beam, then cantilever 24" past that. This doubled 2x8 is tied into a triple 2x8 and is going 9.5' to the 6x6. In some ways it's being used as a beam, as the 6'er's from the ledger are the joists. I'm not sure if I should add another 6x6 to maintain a 6' span between them, or if this current configuration will be ok. It seems nice and solid. I've decked it since this was taken.

    How far out is the wider section to the left (just outside of the pic)? Where is the 6x6 for that? How far from that corner?

    The main deck is 12 x 16. The triple 2x8 spans 10' to the (3) 6x6's that support the deck beam. The deck beam is a double 2x10. ( the deck beam is just out of the frame of the pic)

    you can see the deck beam in the back. The double 2x8 is anchored with a hidden flange hanger right at the inside corner of the post in the foreground.
