My buddy's FRS scattered a TOB a few months ago. Nothing like a transmission bell housing full of ball bearings when you pull it.

 

Some seem to be.
Very personal feeling on how they work for you.
Hell of a lot cheaper to get used and have them reconditioned.

Wrenching on the old T4R, the multimode is back to doing what it's supposed to, or al least is was when I parked it a few hours ago. Tomorrow morning will tell the tale.

Couldn't "like" this.. this sucks. My experience at things going "boom" inside of the bell housing- water, mud and sand killed more than one TOB and clutch on different rigs through out the years. Big blocks pulling overloaded trailers killed a few as well. When I was putting the engine trans back together in the firewood truck last spring, the Sachs clutch kit came with a PLASTIC TOB. No way in hell was I going to use that against a 12" HD clutch pressure plate. Finding a metal TOB ended up being the biggest headache you could imagine. I'm not sure what Toyota uses in their clutch kits, are you going OEM or aftermarket? I'm just curious.

 

Going with OEM ... I suspect my heavy offroad usage in low range contributed ... not going to change how I use the truck ... pay to play.

 

Haha. No. It was actually the first time I looked that closely at the radiator. Going to have a coolant flush done at next service (60K) and was just taking a peak in there.

The GB has the transmission cooler in front and I quickly incorrectly assumed it may be the same.

Back up to that house again for a few days. They were so happy with the painting and other work, they asked for some additional work. They're leaving today for a ski trip in Park City.

Indeed. I'm fortunate. They also asked for week of work up at the ski mountain house for later in April (after school vacation).

 

Sucks to have all that money. I’d rather have my health though.. I don’t have either lol.

Interesting day yesterday.
With all my medical problems I had a few months ago with medication, my Dr and I decided to have me checked for allergic reaction to penicillin after an incident when I had mono 40 years ago. Come to find out you really shouldn’t give penicillin to someone with mono. So DR skipped a couple of baby steps and got me right into Penicillin Challenge. Ended up with full dose and no reaction.
Penicillin is much easier on the body than what I was taking.

I’m not allergic.
Stoked that this will help me in the future…
Improving medical knowledge is always a plus…
