Everyone is a master until they have to do master work. Then they get bitching about they aren’t making all the gravy time.

The funny part is the smartest tech are the quietest, humble, people I met at the dealership.

All the wannabe master tech are constantly bitching at something. If there nothing to bitch about or no one to bitch at, there will make something up just to bitch. Just because they can.

Then there was this one manger who had something stuck up his ass. At least a dozen of the best tech left because of him.

I left the dealership because of all the drama.

How the photo was taken, the bird looks half the size of the trees.

Glad to hear Nugget is doing better.

I would have left years ago except for the core people I work with.
Lots of junk comes and goes..
Not greener on the other side..
So I suffer for a while longer cause it’s not better someplace else.
I get offers all the time.
Not worth trying to start over

A Scangauge is the best add-on you can buy. I've got mine set up for exactly what you mention. Then, to depress the shit out of myself, the 4th reading is mpg.

Best "master tech" I ever saw had all his tools in a shoe box. 1 roll of duct tape, 1 can of WD40, 1 vise grip and 1 hammer.

Most of the tech leaves Toyota to go to Honda. The Honda dealership is owned by three woman. They treat there employees excellent.

The techs starts out at the same pay or higher depending on years experience at Toyota.

Most tech says the hardest part about leaving is missing there co-workers. Some tech were working together for 20 to 30 years. It was emotional leaving.

    Morning

When l was in grade 12, and my 3rd year of auto shop. I had a job placement at a Pontiac Buick GMC dealership. This would have been in 1984. Most of the guys were pretty good at what they did, but there were a few that were definitely not.
Back then they could get rid of these people because l think they're were more people in the trade. l saw a few plugs get fired.
But now? It's seems to be a different story. Places will take almost anyone who applies for the job. Regardless of skill or work ethic.

I think thats any employer nowadays. And it seems impossible to get rid of someone for some reason. We just had a lying, lazy, asshat working for the pipeline and my boss ‘couldnt’ fire him. Worst person ive ever worked with. Left valves open, gates to valve yards unlocked, lights on, buildings open, lied on work orders and didnt actually do the maintenance, caught him going home mid day when he was supposed to be going to X valve site. Had 7 years of shit reviews and papers saying he ‘had been warned’.
It took him not locking a valve out properly and telling me to piss off when I -the isolation coordinator for the lock out- told him to fix it (took photos to cover myself, he denied it..) then 5 mins later him almost opening a 1400psi vent valve that hadnt been blown down yet and me yelling at him to stop. Called our regional safety rep who in turn called the director of operations and dingus was canned within a week. Having to go through so many hoops to fire a liability like him is ridiculous. “Was it a kid?” you ask? No. It was a 64 year old guy who shouldve damn well known better. o_O
    End rant.

When I owned a Pontiac I went to the local Pontiac Buick GMC dealership for parts. There was a Ford getting towed in. I ask the parts counter clerk, if they worked on any makes vehicles. He replied No, this vehicle was sold to them then the wheel fell off. He then mentioned a entry level tech worked on it, and a master tech should of look at it first. To avoid a lawsuit there going to give them any used vehicle they want in the same or close price range.

To avoid lawsuit I don't think any garage, dealership, or any profession will hire anyone not qualify just to fill in a spot they have open.
