Upper ball joints finally out! The ball joint press made this so much easier. I had to really torque it down and nothing happened. Then tapped the side of the spindle with a hammer and it made a cracking noise and came free. Very satisfying.

I was feeling a little broke last week and did not order everything but now I'm ready. Upper and lower ball joints and outer tie rods coming!

When I replaced the LCA on the daughter's Yaris a few months ago, I had my Harbor Freight ball joint tool cranked down on the lower left and nothing happend. Hit with a hammer and POP....came right off.

Busy with work. Plus the FIL has been back in the hospital the last few days. So that's run us to death.

It's been an endless cycle over the last 4 years....in and out of the hospital. They discharged him yesterday. But this time he couldn't go home. His legs just aren't working well. His insurance is paying for 3 weeks of PT at a nursing home. After that he thinks he's coming home to his apartment. The DRs told us his living by himself and driving days need to be over. He's already told everyone that it's not their job to tell him that he can't drive. He can't even get his head around the possibility he may never leave the nursing home.

3 years ago my wife quit her job for nearly 2 years to take care of him. She finally told him a year ago that he had to go back to work. He was not happy. He just doesn't care what impact his decisions have on the people around him. It's been sad to watch his decline...physically and mentally.

We're heading into a very rough period....even more so than the last few years have already been.

Anyone used the cheapo harbor freight torque wrench? I don't expect precision but would hope it's within a pound or 2. Close enough for suspension work I'd guess.

My 17 year old daughter is so cool. She picked up this old school Rat Fink decal for me. How many 17 year olds would even know what that was? She's an old spirit.
