    85 were.

and for sure a lot less.

the one we are restoring is a basket case.
They hacked the frame and body.
    Lots of work.
    Lots of years in fact..

Is there any parts available today for restoring them or the part has to be custom made?

we have a few. we are sending about $150,000 Of parts to Australia for a restore over there.
They are following our guide lines.

We actually have to have parts reverse engineering status.
We take one of the other cars apart and then have it run through a cad machine and reproduced.
Then put the other car back together. Kind of like building 2 cars at once to get one.

Watch, one of the part you sending to Australia you need it for something. I hate to see the shipping bill.

Are you turning any stock 2000 GT cars into Shelby/Toyota race cars?

    various parts.

    engine, interior, suspension stuff.

The history of the cars is two campaign race cars. You would destroy the value of the donating
car if you were to turn it into a race car and poss reduce the value market of all the other cars..

FYI as a bit of coolness, I had a chance to talk for a while with both drivers of the race cars a few years ago.

I'm guessing, if a customer wants you to turn a stock 2000 GT into a race car you wouldn't touch it.

What did both drivers have to say about the performance if the car?

    Nope..

well they won races and beat the Porsche’s...
We talked more about stories and history rather than nut and bolt stuff.

For the time period and rules etc it was very good..

In an interview with Carroll Shelby on I believe it was My Classic Car with Dennis Gage. Shelby didn't like working on this project. At that time there's only so much someone can do with a 4 cylinder. Plus the time frame he had to get it done. Once done it wasn't a bad track car.

I thought it was a little 4 cylinder when I read it was a 2.0 liter. That a small V6.

Didn't Shelby did engine work, carb, intake, port and polish head work?

You can work on the engine while kneeling. If standing while working on the engine your going to need a Chiropractor.

Do you remember Mazda's tiny 1.8 V6 from the early 90's. As far as I know, it was used in just 1 model, at least in N. American.....that was the MX-3 GS
