    Like an old Massey-Ferguson tractor...

After a week of driving it, it's like driving a brand new 15 year old truck in a way. Everything underneath is almost the same as my 2nd gen with some different body metal. The only complaint is the damn transmission (surprise, surprise...). Now it is getting better after getting used to my driving, but one stretch of the mountain it struggles terribly until you manually shift it to 3rd where it's singing at 3K RPM's, which is presumably the power band. Now coming up the other side that isn't as steep it's ok, but there's this strange bucking, almost like a misfire, but also like a transmission slip. Going to make an appointment at the dealer after the holidays... Kind of disheartening on a $40K truck...

Na....the city is really good. Once you get out of the urban and into the rural....that's a different story.

Just posting for proof we may have a sorta white Christmas......and that I was in shorts yesterday is hard to believe. o_O

You won't hurt that 2GR revving it. That's actually where it gives up the 500cc of displacement to the 1GR....the stroke. It's built to sing.

That bucking.....is that in 6th with the cruise control on?

Only going up the mountain on the one side. I use "sport" on the mountain that locks it out anything past 4th. Doesn't struggle to maintain speed on that side, just a weird "bucking." Could be the torque converter acting weird, who knows. Or I may just be super paranoid...

I've seen a couple other posts about unhappy driving conditions in 4th gear or so

I think the torque converter still locks up even all the way down in 4th....not just 6th. Might be that.

I'd personally drive it longer before taking it back to the dealer. You have plenty of time for that.

How much of a difference does the ECT make?

At highway speeds the 2GR is singing pretty good in 4th. It could be some unintended engine braking being felt....which tends to be exaggerated at higher rpm

Yea, it may need more time to adjust to my driving habits.

The ECT makes no difference up the mountain at all. On flat lands it likes to lock out the higher gears if I'm doing 45-50, which is alot since my commute is 70% back roads. No real performance gains out of it.

I will note, I still love the truck. There's just some things I'm getting used to.

    Made a mistake, its a 3rd Gen, 2012, not 2nd Gen.

I got the sill plate off by hand. There wiring going to the back that are clip down. I didn't touch the wiring harness.

The seat plastic are directly over the the lever assembly. It's going to be close if I can unbolted and out. I probably take a picture Saturday and post it. I have to get a clip puller for the wiring harness.
