I've never actually ordered anything from them. It's a brick and mortar store a couple of miles down the road from me. We have 3 in town actually.

They're out of Michigan. They and Wal-Mart both went supercenter at the same time but from opposite angles, Meijer was - still is - a higher end grocery store that added a comprehensive department store to the mix, as opposed to being a comprehensive department store that added a crappy moldy produce grocery to the mix. Meijer kicked their ass, and Wal-mart had to improve the concept by focusing more on the grocery side. But Meijer, while smaller in scope, still beats them at it.

I did research paper on the mega store trend when in business school couple decades ago. Sorry for the thread veer. I geek out on consumer/business trends.

    oh. And good morning!

I like to describe Meijer as Walmart without the mullets and unsettling anatomy lessons. o_O

Meijer has been in town for over 25 years here. Their stores are always clean, well lit, well stocked and fairly diverse in product selection. I much prefer it too Walmart most of the time.

yup. Every one I've been to has always been spotless. That's a big part of their approach. I don't have to tell you that, for years, a Wal Mart will often leave you feeling in need of a shower....

Use to only see them in Michigan, where they're everywhere and people are proud of them. When I moved to Indy 5 years ago there was one right up the road. We're there often. No Auto/tire center like the nearbye WM. Just a MASSIVe grocery/Dept store, like the nearbye Target, but with a gas station out front.

You have to admit though, it's great entertainment going into a wallyworld. No shortage of guts and asscracks hanging out.
I avoid it at all freakin costs unless I need my Mobil-1. Even then, I'll just order it in bulk at that point since I use almost 2 gallons per change now anyways. I make it a point to stop at the one in Gorham, NH since there's basically no people there. The one in my town is full of inbred mouth-breathers any time you go after 10am since they roll out of bed mid-afternoon.
