Reminded me of grandfather's setup. He used jars with the lids nailed under his cabinets

You could say that. This cabin was built in 1924 with a two car drive in basement. That single door is hardwood and goes up as a single solid panel with a man door in the middle. Brilliant.
    upload_2021-1-24_16-30-10.jpg

36 feet away from that door on the far wall is the ballast for the door. Affixed with pulleys and braided steel cable.
    upload_2021-1-24_16-32-38.jpg

    It works.

Hah, never happens that way! Couple weeks ago it was warm enough to really inspect my truck. There's residue lines all over the place from the plastic wrap that came from the factory. You would think after spending over 40K on something they'd get that right. Hell it was delivered to me with snow still in the bed... On the other hand it makes me believe they didn't aggressively clean it, which is a good thing. I estimate I have about 10-15 hours in detailing, frame cleaning and coating, and other miscellaneous items to take care of in the Spring.

That's way too cool, totally geeking out over that! Even though I'm a young guy I LOVE old houses. I'd like to find something cool like that on my current new house search.

Once you get it off I would use 303 aerospace protectant going forward. Should rehydrate the plactic, if the cleaning solvents dried it out.
