i never thought id have to come to the prayers and support section twice in only a few months. i'm nervous for my girlfriend and i figured any help we can get is help.

a couple weeks ago she had severe pain in her left side, i took her to the er and the did xrays, ct scan, blood work etc... the results were she had growths on her ovaries. one wasnt too bad, the one on her left side was something like 8 cm x 5 cm. they had to do more tests to determine what it was. they said it could be a cyst, it could be a tumor, or it could be a cancerous tumor. so they said she would have to get an ultrasound to get a better image.

the results of the ultrasound were;nt great either. they said they still cant tell if it s a cyst, or some sort of tumor. they did say it looks like it's twisting into the ovary, so it may be a twisting tumor. they said surgery is the only option, so she is going in on tuesday. they wont really know how to remove the growth until they are in there and see what it is. they said they will have cancer experts on hand just in case (makes me nervous). then they said depending how it is attached, they may have to remove the whole ovary. i dont like the situation, my girlfriend is pretty freaked out with the whole thing, she's worried about if they have to remove the whole thing if she'll be able to have kids one day and how everything is gonna turn out. i think the part that she hates the most is that she wont know what they had to do to remove the cyst or tumor until she wakes up.

so i figured i'd post something up here, now that we're getting closer to the surgery date i'm getting just as nervous as she is...

Sorry to hear man, but I think she'll be fine. Just make sure you are the first person she sees when she wakes up. anytime someone comes out of surgery, they always feel much better when a loved one is there.

You can still have children with one ovary.

    Good Luck

i dont think they actually gave it a name, as far as i can remember they just said cyst or tumor.

and she asked the doctor if they had to remove it if she could ever have kids, the doctor told her her chances with one ovary are actually almost the same as if she had 2. and he also said they had medication to help with it etc..
not that we're looking to be parents anytime soon, but its good she asked these questions now.

Im am sorry to hear this my friend. My wife has been dealing with the same issues so I can relate completely. Lucky for us it hasn't come to surgery though. I hope and pray that everything goes well for her and there aren't any long lasting effects.

 for you and your GF!
Before my surgery I used mediation CDs to help calm me. It really helped pre, during, and post surgery.
The one I used was stress free surgery (recommend by my doctor) but there are others. Bought it on amazon.
I wish you both the best during this difficult time.

I'm very familiar with this. And I would think they would do this through the belly button to find out what exactly is going on. I'm no doctor, but I'm familiar with that procedure. I assume you are going to a specialist. Ask lots of questions and get well educated on the reproductive organs and operations of the body. It will help you guide the doctors the way you see the treatment should go. I prefer to only give more personal info than this through pm, so feel free to pm me if you want.

My thoughts and prayers are for you both.
