For those on the west coast...how are you preparing for El Nino?

This should be an interesting winter. After what one day of rain did to the 5 fwy near santa clarita, I am curious what it would do to the state once the real El Nino hits. My treads at almost 70K miles is barely halfway worn, so my tires are good. My wipers are almost 3 years old, but still working well. I am just concerned about floods. My drains near my home get overwhelmed easily in light rain. Might buy sandbags just in case. One thing that I am not prepared for is extremely muddy roads since I dont have 4wd. Maybe I should have gotten a 4wd model...

Going to do the diff breather mod and possibly a snorkel. Maybe put another 3 inches on my 3 in lift.... water will be water end up in the ocean and i dont think its going to be the armageddon they claim.

 

El Nino has been happening for months

 

El Nino~ has been happening for years , just depends where it sets itself up in the pacific as to how it affects the west (socal wise)

 

There is also La Nina , they tend to alternate

Yes, it's a box lunch & we're eating at the "Y"....

 

Working on a 'dry box' for the bed of the truck to hold all my wet fishing gear, and put in a new rod tube holder for my spey rods. Praying for phenomenal steelhead fishing up the north coast this season.

 

I, too, am a bit east of west coast and about 5200' in elevation (but planning on spending a lot of time this winter at 7000 - 10,500'+) so my preparations are:

• skis are getting waxed & tuned
  
• season passes to the mountain getting bought
• de-icer washer fluid ready to go into windshield washer fluid tank
• loading shovel into truck in case I need to throw some snow into the bed for weight
• snow chains are in the truck
  
• Jumped on TW's weathertech digital fit GB. (cuz snow is awesome outside the truck, less so inside the truck)

 

You guys must have it pretty easy out there, weather wise.

Referring to me? Simply saying that the majority deal with inclement weather on a regular basis.

 

I have a jet ski and the kid loves to swim and play in mud soooo....

The Taco is 2WD so that's staying in the garage
