Yeah no LSD sticker on rear end so no locker. Tea nitro just started making it a week or two ago. It 4.10 I believe. May be 4.11 but I think it's 4.10. Should I change diff. fluid after 500 miles??

Yes change the diff fluid after 500 miles. That allows the new gear to get settled and run in then you want to remove any debri to make sure you dont ruin the new gears

Ok. After much consideration I may allow a local shop to do installation instead of myself and a buddy. If so I'll most likely be changing diff fluid myself after 500 miles. How hard is this to do??

its 2 bolts. i removes the fluids one insert fluids. make sure to remove the fill plug first then remove the drain plug. If your not mechanically inclined I would highly recommend a shop install the gears, lots of things can go wrong

aw, cmon dude, just do it yourself! slid out the axle shafts, bolt up the third, slide the shafts back in and bolt everything down! not hard at all!

as far as draining it...if you can change your oil, you can change the diff fluid.

You have to make sure the gears mesh well and its shimmed properly...no?

I have 35" tires regeared it 4.56. Added power, pick up. But mpg eh about a gain of 2 on average. Soooo doing it for mpg imo isn't worth it.

Pretty damned smart. Pretty mechanical as well. I installed all my own parts. Lift, cai, headers, exhaust, full stereo system, air freshener lol. Ive just never done anything related to rear end work before and don't wanna screw it up. Should I attempt it honestly?? Also how loud are new gears gonna be?? Louder than stock?? Same ride quality??

Gears shouldn't be any louder than stock, but you *may* find them a *tiny* bit louder if you listen attentively enough. If they're a lot louder the packing isn't right.

Gearing has nothing at all to do with ride.

I don't have a garage at my condo. Nor space for tools. So nope didn't do it myself unfortunately. Woulda loved to save the money

Okay maybe not average more like max 2 mpg. But I have volant intake, bedcover, etc etc. To try and get better mpg. Nothing really. I probably went from 9 to 10.5 now

So with 285/75r16 tires and a v6 auto is 4.10 the right choice or 4.56?? 4.56 too much?? More focused on mpg gain than power. Also what name brand gears do y'all recommend??

No offense dude, but this has been beaten to death now. 4.10 gears for what you are planning. 4.30 or 4.56 if you want more acceleration, bigger tires, or to off road often.

Don't install them yourself. It is messy and fairly complicated. I have built 2 engines from the block up, and I still wouldn't do my own gears. It isn't magic or voodoo, but it is a pain and not worth the hassle.

    Read this:
    http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/gear_setup/

If you think to yourself, "oh that is a snap." Then do it yourself... otherwise, take the 3rd members somewhere with a press and a guy that sets up rearends for a living.

Ok. My bad dude. Chill out or don't read. I thought we were here to help each other out. I've helped others and commented and shared my knowledge countless times before. I'm new to gears so I'm learning and educating myself. I wanna do the right thing and do it once. Sorry if that annoys you. This is my $30k truck and my ass going down the road in it not yours, therefore I'm concerned with doing things the proper way. But thanks for your input in the matter.

I wasn't trynig to ruffle your feathers. I appreciate that it is
    1) your truck
    2) your money
    3) your desire to make it right

Good Luck with whatever route you go.
