He posted on the thread in order to add to his "subscribed thread" list so that he could find it later because it's got that link to 4x4wire with a detailed description of how to build up a diff.

But, it's not necessary to post on a thread to subscribe to it. Simpl click on "Thread Tools" and select the dropdown that says "subscribe to this thread."

This has been a public service announcement by Bullwinkle J. Moose. :D

ok, seriously dude, your questions have all been answered multiple times in multiple threads!! check out the tacoma brochure for your year, you will notice that it lists your v6 prerunner as having 3.73 gears. dont believe it, jack up your rear, put the truck in "N" and rotate the drive shaft. you will notice it takes almost four (ie. LESS than four) complete turns of the driveshaft for your rear tire to make one rotation (meaning you have slightly less than a 4:1 ratio...ie 3.73 gears)!!

and yes, for your usage, you should go with 4.10s. yes, 05+ 6 lug 4bangers come w/ a 4.10 third stock. yes you should get the gears installed by someone that does them rather than yourself (east coast gear supply comes highly recommended and i will be sending my diff to them here soon). yes you should install the complete regeared third yourself to save some money since your mechanically inclined (or so you say). yes pirate4x4.com sometimes has 4.10 gears available, but if you act anything like you do here, you will get goofed and booted VERY quick! yes, the only way to get a 4.10 ring/pinion new will be from toyota, as no others make them (unless nitro really did just start making them). yes you should get a master rebuild kit, since you will be tearing apart the diff anyways.

i think that covers it all...

Not a good way to make friends here...

Everyone has been patient and helpful. We've offered advice, opinions, and links.

Get some 4.10s from ECGS.There really isn't much else to be said about it at this point.

..oh, if you do decide to do it, post pictures and a 'report' after you get it all back together and take it for a drive letting everyone know how it turned out for you.

My exact point. I've read online anywhere from 3.73 to 4.56 gears. That's why I asked.

i was screwing w/ you bonehead ... toyota brochure says 3.73, what more do you need to read. if you would just go out and do what i told you, you would have known for sure last night instead of reading/posting here all the time about the same question over and over...

i dont how much more clear i can be...V6 PRERUNNERS HAVE 3.73s NO MATTER WHAT!!!! read that online....

The page you're linking to is a wonderful source of axle info for the older Yota's and 1st gen Tacos, but was never updated with the info on the 2005+ Tacos.

If you have any doubt left that you have 3.73 - put it up on jackstands, put it in neutral, put a dot sticker on the driveshaft, rotate BOTH wheels EXACTLY one full turn, and count the driveshaft rotations using the dot sticker you put on there.
