That's the most ignorant thing I've heard. You do realize all vehicles regardless of material are designed to withstand certain impacts?

I hate ford and would never own one, but there is nothing wrong with innovation in the industry. Full composite bodies will be coming next. I would rather have an aluminum bed than a composite bed...

I may be wrong but when they first introduce the 3rd gen Toyota stated that parts of the truck body was aluminum. I think this is the future of car and truck design. It makes the truck lighter and helps with fuel economy

On a brighter note, instead of the "jaws of life", Ford F150 owners can now be rescued with Crayola scissors.

Take a piece of 1/8" 6061 or 7075 and try and bend it in a vise. Aluminum can be very strong, just depends on the alloy and how it is used.

No different than going cast iron engines to aluminum ones. Steel wheels to aluminum.

Wow, thats harsh man, I share my opinion on a community forum and all of the sudden "thats the most ignorant thing you have heard?"

No need to resort to putting someone down. Yes, of course I know that vehicles are designed to with stand certain impacts. I just gave you my opinion on which material id rather have protecting my family.

For example you have a aluminum bat and I have a steel bat, which one will fail first if we hit them together?

As far as composites go, such as carbon. They can be stronger than steel pound per pound and the fibers can be woven in such ways to promote strengths in certain areas and crumple zones in others. You can not do that with aluminum.

Again man no need to spread hate here, just a car forum.

Might want to ask all our vendors how much those aluminum skid plates and bumpers suck

I never said aluminum sucks. It has its place. The vendors would agree and have stated that steel is considered a HD version.

Skids in aluminum are lighter weight but will be weaker. You can't argue that.

Bumpers, Id actually prefer an aluminum bumper because thats where you want to absorb impact.(not on the side of your vehicle) IE: why the crash bar behind bummers is moving to aluminum instead of steel.

Meh, this video doesn't diswade my opinion of the F150 and using aluminum for body panels. This thing was already damaged there's just a guy using some pliers to tear parts of metal off. Wa-hoo, big deal. Somebody already screwed the truck up by side swiping something.

YES can be, but isn't a strong type on the F150 from all the test I've seen
