Same here, it`s really simple for the people that have this so-called mpg problem, it`s called keeping your foot out of it.

Damn. I get better gas mileage in my 392 hemi challenger and that's ripping around in town. Need to find a way to attach a bed to it and I'll make millions!!

Well the fuelly numbers for the 3.5L equipped 2016 Tacoma show the average to be 18.7mpg

That was the ONE thing I was anticipating being jealous of with my 2013, was the gas mileage the new generation could possibly have gotten. Not anymore. I get better MPG in my 2nd Gen.

I don't understand the low numbers... I think it had to do with elevation, temperature, environment too... If I punch it I'll average 19-20. Daily commute, I am getting 22.5-24.0. I've had an outlier of 26.3 once. I have DCLB so it is the heaviest configuration..

Tank average computer and manual calculations are within .1 so I am trusting the computer more and more.

I've had these results for the last 2000 miles..

That's a good point. My mileage has been better on warmer days than when it's in the 40s. I should be getting Prius-like numbers when it gets back over 100...

To add to that..for reference.. I am at 600ft elevation, temperatures have ranged from 45-75 degrees, NC foothills.

It's been as high as mid 90's here in Phoenix over the past month. Temps mostly hovering in high 80s. Gas mileage has not fluctuated significantly due to temp change from when my truck was originally delivered in November. Phoenix is very flat with grid-like system for roads and elevation is ~1200-1400 FT MSL

3rd gen DCTRDOR4x4 avg 18.7 for first 800 miles. Got 24.5 on the way in to work today driving same route as always never have seen above 20. I'm hoping the trend stays :)

You need a lot more time and distance to actually prove a trend. One trip and a snapshot in time for one or two days does not show a valid trend

I can. I found This truck is very sensitive to a heavy foot. In order to get the mileage one has to drive with a very light foot. Roll easy out of stops and decelerate long before needing to brake hard coming to a stop. I can choose to get 17MPG or 20 MPG in the city depending on my foot. Drive it like a limo and over 20 MPG is easy to achieve. But many don't want to do that. Instead they drive it like a 5.0 Mustang then wonder why their mileage is lower than expected.

    ^^^ This.

My drive to/from work is 9 miles. In the morning with light traffic and fewer "obstructions" I average 21.5. On the way home with heavy traffic and multiple red lights I average 17.

When I need it to scoot it will scoot, but at the expense of the empeegees.

LOL.....As do I. I make an honest attempt to keep the truck rpms at 1100 no matter what speed I am going. The transmission loves to go there. I do notice on some hills when I have to step on the pedal...MPG drops.

That said I still want to enjoy the truck so I am not always light footed. My last couple fill ups avgs 18MPG.

So I'm doing better than you it sounds like. If I take a couple hundred miles of highway trips I try to keep speed to 65 and I can usually bump up tank average closer to 20mpg. But I do a lot of city driving which seems to net me about 16mpg or 17 mpg max. The balance is as shows in my fuelly #s. 19.1mpg

7k miles now on truck. No significant change since taking delivery. Still waiting for that elusive "4 mpg" increase for "break in"...........lmao

I drive in a small town.avg MPH is <40. That helps but the stop and go is where the Mileage drops.

Mpg is the least of my concerns with the transmission. I'm whining about r to d lag time and lack of engagement.
