The US is screwed up because we the people vote the same corrupt a-holes back into office.

I can blame no one for our currently failing energy situation but ourselves.

I've never really worried about it in the truck. Certainly wouldn't pay more. I just throw additive in when I fill up my 2 stroke outboard on my boat to keep that from getting angry and I haven't had any issues.

Brazil uses the cane stock to help fuel the process of making ethanol. Were the US uses more fuel to make ethanol than it produces.

If only we had a state, maybe an Island in the Pacific, that could grow sugar cane and ship it to the main land! If such a state existed than they could be like Alaska and it's oil. Paying the people dividends from the revenue instead of charging an income tax.

Or maybe even a Territory of the US on the other side of the country, one that wants statehood (sort of), that could fix it's economical woes by selling it's sugar cane for ethanol.

2 cents- I ran a test between 90,87, and 87 ethanol. (Using the same hill and trying to keep it in OD while maintaining speed)(through many tanks of course)

90- pulled like a champ and easily accelerated while staying in OD
87 pure gas- accelerated at a slower rate but still stayed in OD
87 ethanol- definite power loss relative, shifted out of OD

conclusion-like many things in life, you get what you pay for.

My commute to work is 50 miles one way and there are many hills that require(i thought) my auto trans to downshift out of OD. So since I'd be burning the petrol anyways, I thought I might as well do a semi-not really scientific study.

    *bed weight stayed the same
*ran about 5-30 miles past fuel warning light (was about 15.4-15.7 gallons added each time)
*2 full tanks of each type before switching
*ambient temp fluctuated a little, but cut me some slack

So throughout these 2 tanks, I would get multiple passes at these hills. As I approached them, I took it off cruise control and attempted to stay at 60 mph. Seemingly to test the pulling power of OverDrive.

90 pulled very well and kept it at 60 in OD
87 real gas kept it at 60 and in OD as well but required more pedal persuasion
87 ethanol slowly lost speed and needed to shift down to stay at 60 mph

To make a long, short. I know this isn't that scientific but it seems the same results could possible show up on a dyno. Anyone know of this being done? There was a definite responsiveness/power increase through the types. Once again this is only my 2 cents. I'm an 87 real gas fan now. Find the stations, there out there.

    Consumerism is the answer.

There is only 8 of them in AZ. The closest one to me is probably at least 100 miles.

I phase separate ethanol when im bored or feel like it.

I mix 4.5 gallons gas, with 1/2 gallon water. Set ontop of washing machine and let shake

then proceed to pour off gasoline into second container, add anhydrous magnesium sulphate. wait 30 mins

then filter through steel coffee mesh into a third container.

I'm left with 4 gallons of de-shitified gasoline.
