I had to chuckle at your response. Thanks...

I've kept mine on...although, this first visit to the dealership for 5K mile check-up/oil change, it affected the way the technician put the skid bolts back on--half ass. The shroud apparently caused him not to check the fit of the torqued bolt and the installed bolt was at an angle and he called it good.

My 10K check-up will be at the dealership I bought my Tacoma...in Easton, MD. I live in Dover, DE and wasn't impressed with the dealership in town so I ventured 45 miles away.

We shall see how things go come Feb/2022. In the meantime, I'll keep the shroud on.

    Don’t believe these folks!!!
My off road doesn’t have one and driving past 65 mph this truck is unstable and all over the place. It it wasn’t for the shark fin on the roof adding that extra stability, damm near will toss me across the highway.

    Ahem... scoop?
I assure you designers put shit in that does nothing.
Engineers? All their shit does something but if it did not have a designer's touch all vehicles would be boxes or egg shaped.

I got asked by my nephew about the scoop on my Sport..."any functionality?" he asked. I'm like..."Nope!" It just looks cool.

I do like my mud flaps...keeps debris from kicking onto the lower paint...and when on asphalt...it keeps tar off too.

If/when I decide to go off-road, they'll probably come off.

People are ready to pay for the scoop.

The dam, no people don't pay for that. It's your truck you do you, but no Toyota doesn't add this on lower trim for nothing. You're not going to die, but claiming it does nothing because your butt doesn't feel it is trash.

Adding sporty air dams to Sport models and not adding them to Offroad models is the name of the game. Tell me, do black fenders give better mileage and stablility? Or just increase off road prowess? What about black door handles- better or worse at overlanding?

It’s your truck, do what you like. This has no noticeable difference on anything. Your floor mats are 100x more important to Toyota engineers..

What Does An Air Dam Do On A Truck?
An air dam is a front spoiler that is designed to press the nose of your vehicle down to maximize traction. The valance does the same thing as a rear spoiler. It is positioned to move air around the vehicle to increase performance. They can even move air to the engine bay to improve engine cooling in certain models.

Of course, this effect is only achieved at higher speeds. If you never drive your car more than 80 mph (129 kph) then the air dam is purely for looks. Which isn’t a bad thing.

Again, apples and oranges. Paid feature vs things they pay to put in lower trim.

The imagination is a powerful thing.
Also, they probably read that somewhere, so throw the power of suggestion into the mix, too.

Toyota lists the fuel economy for the TRD Sport @ 19/24 and the TRD Off-Road @ 18/22. No mention as to why...

And you think they tested all trim and not only tested a lighter SR with nothing in?
