What wheel specs and spacers (if any) did you guys go with to not rub on the frame while using 35's? With ~2.5" suspension lift.

    Thanks in advance.

Years ago, on my other Tacoma that I sold, I had -32mm offset 4.00” BS 15x9.0 mounted to 35x12.50 and no wheel spacers. 2” OME lift & SPC UCA, clear the frame when lock to lock. Don’t have any picture but tub pretty high into the wall tho.

Would I do it again? No. The amount of work needed for the potential clearance gain is minimum and not worth it IMO. I Built 2 solid axle Tacoma since. 35 will put more stress on everything from steering to BJ and wheel bearings. In 4 years, I changed 2 set of OEM LBJ, 1 set of Koyo wheel bearings, and a set of I/OTRE. I don’t hardcore offroad but do hit the trail where most IFS won’t go and air down with beadlock to single digit psi.

I already bought the 35's and tubbed the firewall so I have no choice but to keep going
I went with 35x11.5 with OEM 17" wheels off another Toyota and surprisingly they aren't that much more heavy than my current setup with steel wheels. The issue is I would have to run like a 2" spacer to not hit the frame during full steering lock.

Notch the frame for them. That's my plan. Beats the cost and increased stress of wheels with more negative offset or spacers.

    I use a 17 x9 with a -38 or 3.5 bs I'm on a 34 but I don't rub the frame.and probably wouldn't with a 35 either.

I hope you know that offset (-38) is different from backspace (3.5)

yes, that’s the spec of the rim. But you can have a -32, -38, or a -44 offset and still have a 3.50BS. The terminology “or” from your post will confuse people because they will think that a -38 will achieve the same 3.50BS. They’re not the same, guess that’s what I’m getting at.

“backspacing measuring the distance from the wheel's mounting surface to the back edge, and offset measuring the distance from the mounting surface to the wheel's centerline”

yes, rim offset is different from backspace. You can have a -12 offset and have a 4.00BS. In my case, I had a -32 offset with 4.00BS. We can’t expect all manufacturers to be the same or assume rim offset will equal the same BS.

It also has to do with the rim width. I have a 9" wide rim

Thanks for the pic and video, where is it rubbing in the video? Sounds like plastic, I'm hopeful because I don't have any of that plastic anymore.

The battery box area I just hit with a BFH and it bent up pretty easily. The tire clears.
