so im painting my motorcycles track plastics. I was going to just Dupli Color rattle can the job but I was wondering if I would be able to use a spray gun instead. I have a Ridgid 2.5 gallon compressor for my trim nailers. It shoots 1.9 SCFM @ 90 PSI. Can I paint with that? The spray guns seem to shoot at a much lower psi and cfm. Keep in mind the plastics are not that large. Im not painting a car. I see these high volume low pressure guns at harbor freight. I dont think I would need a large size sprayer either. What do you guys know?

I doubt the guns from harbor freight are much good... just cheap stuff. If that is the only thing you will ever paint, go with your rattle can. If you are going to paint on a regular basis, Devibliss has some good spray guns/equipment.

quality isnt the biggest deal here. Its a track bike, you dont win awards for best of show. I know the guns at harbor freight arnt that great, but aapaint job out of one of those would be better than a rattle can. Id rather not do a laquer paint job. Im also not trying to break the bank.

I looked at the compressor and was mistaken. It works at 2.2 cfm @ 90 psi, 3.1 cfm @ 40 psi. So do you guys think the compressor can handle or even operate a spray gun?

Most spray guns need 5+ cfm for continuous operation. I think it will work if your only painting small parts.
