Indeed but we aren't looking at Ford at the moment. That Tundra was a mess.

    Mine too

I'm too old to know what a fanboi is

I bought a Pro because it's both a nice truck and an exceptionally wise investment.

    - 2 new Civics... well they've gone up in price now too... pretty low end ones maybe.
    - Damn tractors are that expensive?
    - 5 hookers... hopefully they're quality and half a kilo... sounds fun
    - Can't imagine how many Smarties that would be.
    - Sadly I work with Waterslides and I know $50000 would not get you the most awesome waterslide ever. Whitewater which is based out of Richmond B.C. wouldn't even show up for $50k. They make most of the slides for hotels/pools, etc.
    - Trampoline, hookers and cocaine... that could be a lot of fun...

At least I agree with you whole completely about people telling me what I should or should not buy. I love my 2017 TRD Off Road SB and wouldn't trade it for any of the full size trucks short of a Raptor.

My buddy has a 2015 Ram 1500 Sport which he bought for $75000 (Canadian before people flip out) and this year with 7000 km on it he was offered $37500 for it. If I had wanted a full size I would have taken it off his hands. The thing is fully loaded with an air ride suspension and every accessory humanly possible. Granted it has been reliable... at 7000 km on the clock; but long term I know he will be paying more in many regards.

I know I payed a metric shit ton for my Taco, but I love it, and it'll hold its value better, and hold up better then any bad ass full size I could have spent that money on, I'm a V8 nut, but nothing will hold up, and hold value like a Tacoma. Money Well Spent!

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
...^^^... Yep ... Spoken with more truth and wisdom than a 1000 Tibetan Monks ... :)

These have been my thoughts with all of the Toyota trucks that I have purchased.

    FWIW ... V8 nut here too and I dream of a Toyota 4.6L or 4.7L in a Tacoma RC/SB.

You don't want that air suspension. I did research into it when I was considering full-size trucks, even domestics. From what I recall, tons of people have problems with the air suspension malfunctioning in cold temperatures.

I had air suspension on my ML350. It was awesome to gain 3" of clearance at the push of a button and being able to select ride comfort with another button, but damn that stuff was expensive to repair. One of the shocks blew around 115,000km - dealer price was $1000 per corner, plus tax and labour. Ended up finding compatible suspension from Bilstein and buying from two different sources to get best prices - ran me about $1800 for just the two rear shocks. Another $600 to get them installed at an Indy - they had to remove half the cargo area's interior to do it. Screw that!

I did test drive the 2015+ RAM Laramie and it was a great ride. Tons of power, quiet, luxurious, etc., but there was no way I'd shell out $60k (or even $50k) for a domestic product. Your buddy took a serious raping paying $75k for a Sport. My personal opinion - any domestic product must be priced at no more than 75% of the price of a comparable Japanese vehicle for me to even think about buying it. $60k for a new Tundra? That means max price for an equally loaded RAM should not exceed $45k. Real world prices are within a few thousand of each other, so that's a big "hell no" from me.

Yeah I knew he got screwed on it. He's the type that checks every box. Even things he doesn't need like the towing mirrors, sport exhaust etc. It rode great and was super luxurious but in the end it is still a product made by FCA with poor reliability.

My in law works for Dodge as one of their Master Techs and he ended up trading in his Ram 3500 for a F350. His explanation was Dodge has a great engine but everything around it was prone to failure or was already failing. He had 3 warranty claims on it by the time he got rid of it (only 2 years old). Then again he knows his diesel engines better than most guys; his old shop had the contract for BC Ambulance.

too bad Toyota Motors last so long... it would be awesome to swap one of those 4runner V8s in once the stock V6 gives up, I'm sure Toyota never did it, because it would cut into Tundra Sales harshly, and that it wouldn't justify the development costs of Tundra.

Excellent build quality. I had that motor in my 100 series. Fantastic, but slow. Once the 5.7L came out in the 200, 100 felt like a dinosaur.

Yours is a forever truck :)

Yeah I don't know why locally you can find them all day long, newer and lower miles than Tacomas.

All about function and form! All American cars and trucks will have the head liner drooping and falling apart after 5 years. Along with the windows falling out of their mounts, rattling dashboard, and all of the visible screw caps missing. All American Junk. Had a 96 Tacoma extracab with 223,000 miles on it. Here in California, any vehicle pre 2000 has to be smogged on a dyno. It passed smog with flying colors. I doubt you will ever see an American truck that can compare to that. Mid-size is more practical until you need a work truck.
