For those of you that have owned a full size, does bed size make a difference on MPG?

Like 6.5 feet bed vs 8 feet bed?

I drive a ford Ecoboost econoline 150 with 20,000 miles on it. The differential is leaking, oil leaking from the intercooler hoses, and rear brakes are already 50% worn. These models have been out for a couple of years.... poor quality. This is my company vehicle and I got it new off of the lot. Personal review. Post all of the reviews that you want and believe all of the commercials that say that they are the most award winning manufacturer you want.... They all suck!!!! As much as Chevy bagged on The aluminum bed of the Ford..... Chevy is now aluminum. Eat a turd ..... Turd Gen!!!!!

Buy a bed extender and there shouldn't be a problem

I already have a bed extender.

I was curious for people who owned ful sizes if the larger bed, more weight, made a diff or not.

I thought I read somewhere that there's more aero drag with an 8' bed and a cover would help more. Also more weight is always bad for mpg.

    As for the original topic...

There's just no winning with this question. Before it was endless variants of "you could have bought a full size for that and it could do more." Now it's "why did you buy such a big truck, it won't fit anywhere." That one from the same person that just asked for help to move. Touché. He can contribute to the gas fund.

There is no way he payed $75,000 for that truck. MSRP maybe, but I can get that truck for 55,000 no problem. Any vehicle that is that expensive will lose more money quicker than say a Ram Sport for say 45,000, likely get the same offer of $37,500 on trade.

You really put a high value on "Japanese quality" laughable IMO. Maybe in days of old, but today I wouldn't pat a dime more for a toyota over domestic. Totally old way of thinking.

Where I work we have tacoma company vehicles and they are no different than the rest of the GM/Fords we have in our fleet. We have over 100 vehicles too, so a good sample size. Bottom line you can't compare a company vehicle to your own personal vehicle as I know it doesn't get used the same way.

Chevy going aluminum? that's news to me, maybe some components but not the body.

No not really but I never did a real comparison.

8' bed is huge, don't get it unless you really need it, like hauling 12' sheetrock

Why did you buy a screwdriver/donut/grass seed/carpeting/a book/yogurt etc when you could have bought a file/fritter/rose bush/tile/CD/tapioca etc etc etc.

...^^^... IMO, 2006 was the last and best Tundra IMO ... don't let it go :)

I had a 2000 Tundra and was a Guinea pig on 1st gen and a 2007 Tundra and was a GP on 2nd gen.

Now, I am a GP on gen 3 Tacoma and this has been a good truck do far ... better than last 2 GP's.

FWIW ... My 3 favorite Toyota Pickup series were: and old 22R models, 2004 Gen 1 Taco, and 2006 gen 1 Tundra.

Sheetrock is a brand name for drywall (like Kleenex)
