Similar length x width as the Ranger, but unibody and FWD :puke:

    [IMG] [IMG]

Twist-beam rear suspension (similar to the previous-gen Corolla) with electronic parking brake:

I guess this is targeting the same market as the 5-lug Tacoma (which Toyota stopped making for 3rd gen) :notsure:

Cheapest hybrid and pick up, setting aside the fact that it's unibody FWD for those that moan about that kind of thing.

This thing is gonna sell and sell well. And I really don't think it looks half bad. If you're reading this, though, know you're probably not part of it's target demographic.

    Kudos to Ford.

Interesting 2nd peg for the tailgate cable to set the tailgate higher, along with tie-down points:

That's how they're made, they got a really good deal on some cables made too short and decided to use them anyway

I do like the tie down points in the tailgate though, that is genius

Is it in direct competition with the Honda Ridgeline and Hyundai Santa Fe pickup? I just hope this is not the Bronco Pickup replacement.

You think they got a bunch of rear door armrests made too short, so they advertise it as a feature to fit a bike sideways in the cab?

The Maverick looks good, and has more utility than a Fusion. I'd rather pay less money for a midsize truck. These should become popular.

Look at that plastic door handle which isn't chrome, that's so utility.

What's the point in having a bed if you're keeping the bike inside the cab? If you want the bike inside, get an SUV :D

Yep competition for the other unibody pickups. The Maverick based on the Bronco Sport platform.

The Bronco pickup is expected in 2025: https://www.motortrend.com/news/exclusive-ford-bronco-pickup-coming-battle-jeep-gladiator/ Given Ford's mfg problems with the Bronco hardtops, I wouldn't expect to see it sooner.

That's why the Ridgeline, Subaru Baja, Chevy Avalanche, etc. haven't sold well. I don't think there's a big market for half-assed pickups. I don't think there's a big market for cheap pickups either, given that Toyota even killed off the 5-lugger Tacomas 5 years ago.

I'm not terribly familiar with adjustable tail gates on other trucks, but the point Ford was driving home is that it's adjustment lines up perfectly with the wheel arches so that sheet goods can be loaded flat, which I thought was neat and thoughtful given how short the bed is.

Competition with the Hyundai, not necessarily the Honda.

The Honda is sized like a midsize and thus isn't really an apt comparison. Bigger bed and a much more powerful engine.

"But muh unibody pickups!" Doesn't mean they all play together.

The point of the Maverick that's impressive and blows all of those vehicles out of the water:

It's going to be the cheapest vehicle in Ford's lineup. You walk into a Ford showroom and ask for the lowest priced new car and that's what they're going to sell you.

Also it blows the fuel economy of all of those out of the water. Understandable when comparing it to the Avalanche, sure. But the Ridgeline always disappointed by never getting better economy and using that as a selling point.

    A bunch of smalls
I wouldn't buy one, but i can certainly respect that Ford is being innovative - small pick-up, electric f-150. Meanwhile Toyota gives us highlighter green and calls it a day.
