I saw a nice, I'd say 64 Ford Rwd regular cab long bed earlier today. Looked like it was done up in stock form and all of it down to the trim looked like it was all there.

Having had a '49 (see avatar) w/ modern drivetrain, brakes, etc for about 7 years, I can tell you I'm glad to have sold it and back in a modern weekend vehicle. Yea, the old shit turns a lot of heads. More than most high end or super cars will. But they are constant work. Shit's always breaking, leaking, .... whatever. I loved that truck, dont get me wrong. I just don't have the patience for it any more.

At least FOrd built the movie screen into the dash and didn't glue it on like Toyota did. I kinda like it. Would be interested to see and drive both.

Used to be into muscle cars, had a ‘71 & ‘72 Chevelle, always something that needs attention or upgrading. Love the old stuff to look at, not much into spinning wrenches anymore. Grew up doing it, beyond over it. Can buy modern vehicle right off the dealer that will smoke the old stuff, and for much cheaper for what it takes old iron to get up to par. Those pro touring cars aren’t cheap.

Was chatting with a guy who has a hybrid Tundra at the dealer, said he frickens love it. Fastest truck he ever had and drives like a car. Not much into speed anymore, but think the new Tacoma Pro is going to make a lot people happy who are.

I could only imagine the crowd here if the 24 Tacoma had a grill, front end like that Ranger. is that a F O R D !!
Also folks already complain about imbedded TRD Pro, if Toyota had those Jurassic Park decals all over the hood, side, tailgate folks here would have gone nuts, haha

    Yea but...

    1. How much is it going to cost?
    2. How long will it last?
    3. Would you even be able to get one?

I like the new Chevy ZR2 Bison better and will probably cost less than a Raptor. A good looking truck with factory 35” tires and front and rear lockers. Definitely better equipped for off road use than the new TRD Pro and the Trailhunter and will probably cost less than both. Even a base ZR2 has more off road capabilities than either new Toyota model and sells for less than 50k. I like the new Tacoma, but the competition has surpassed what Toyota offers for a true off road vehicle.

Good news for us Tacoma fans is the giant egg laid with the Tundra. It puts waaaay more pressure on them to make the new Tacoma a home run.

I love how wildly we all speculate (myself definately included). @Lt. Dangle says Bison will approach $70k, I think mid $60's, you say less than $58,000. Although the ZR2 starts at over $50k, you may be looking at the last gen ZR2.

I like telling this story just because it tells how crazy pricing is. I sold cars from 2003-2016 (sales to management). In 2006 I started with a Ford dealer and a fully loaded F-150 stickered at $45,000. Now you cannot even get into a base model 4x4 for that money. While adjusted for inflation is almost $67,000 freedom dollars, but still it's just bananas to me.

It’s had some mechanical hiccups but the big concern for Toyota is that it has not been a sales success. It’s come in last place in most magazine comparisons and overall Toyota has failed to deliver a truck that is more compelling to buyers than Ford/GM/Ram.

Sorry, you are mistaken. You can get the new ZR2 for less than 50k. Go build one on the Chevy site if you don’t want to believe me.

Have known a few people with ZR2 Bisons and it's a good looking truck........
But if you think we have issues that get tossed around here with our trucks try jumping on one of the ZR2 or Ranger forums!
Good looking, capable and priced competitively are great, but if you start having major or even a lot of minor things go wrong within the first year or two let alone be able to drive the truck a couple hundred thousand miles worry free, it sort of makes those previous awesome qualities moot.
Just MHO after owning my first Toyota for a year and a half now.
I have owned a couple new gen GM products and a recent Fiat product, and so far Toyota quality and engineering is as good or better than any of the Hondas I've owned and I was a Honda loyalist.
The GM and Fiat made vehicles just didn't seem to have the same build quality or longevity the Toyota has.

No you're right for sure, when I do B&P I always option it out how I'd want so I guess my brain goes to $51,000-52,000. My apologies.

All I know is that a Bison in 2021 started at 55k. Converting that to the current times is like 1 first born and 70k by my math.

I have no idea if a Bison comes loaded like the Ranger Raptor essentially, or if you will be able to option it out to a certain degree like the ZR2. You can add almost 17k in options to a ZR2 before adding any accessories. That's crazy IMO.

I wonder if the turbo is a significant part of why it hasn't been adopted by its market.
