You will never achieve the 465 lb/ft of torque. They measure the max torque of the E motor at Zero RPM, then ADD that to the Peak Torque of the ICE at ITS peak torque RPM, and thats how they get their claimed peak numbers.

Seriously sick of the Ford love here. If you are a fan of the Raptor, then go to their forum and buy one. 99% of Tacoma fans don't give a shit.

We always had Fords growing up in the 70s-80s. Both personal and for our fleet vehicles. Thought my dad was going to disown me when I sold my ‘76 F250 Ranger Highboy for my ‘85 4Runner. “Don’t you bring that Jap Crap around here boy!”

Used to get teased for that shit from friends constantly, now look at Toyota, crazy how far they have come popularity wise.

So I like both, Toyotas a touch better, and if they made a 1 Ton would probably buy it, unfortunately they don’t. So Ford it is.

The 465 1b/ft of torque is a substantial claim in gain compared to the higher out put nonhybrid. I can't recall Tundra iForceMax, and Powerboost numbers off the top of my head, but I don't think there's as big of a gap in between. Those motors both being larger displacement V6s and having two turbos.

I feel it’s quite the opposite. Part of owning a Toyota is shitting all over Ford and GM. And being elite about it too.

I drive a Ford and have never been a fan of the brand. The Raptor is cool, it's not something I'd probably drive, not for the price.

Not really Toyota motor corp related, or relevant as it's a case by case basis, and not exclusive to any one manufacturer. My experience is that buying a new Toyota has become quite an ordeal. Buying a Raptor is probably worse.

I dont think its a "love" of anything or particular brand. However, if one manufacture steps up the game, the others tend to follow. Ford comes out with a "Ranger Raptor", its fine to discuss it, as some features might trigger Toyota to add, or do something similar to keep its customer base.

Yeah you would think Toyotas were made out of gold. Was considering not staying with Toyota because of all the elitists that own them now. I’ll get comments from non-Toyota drivers about all the “Tacoma Bros” and do I have a roof top tent. I tell them it wasn’t that way 30 years ago. The Toyota owner of yore just wanted a low key no nonsense little truck for running around in.

These things aren’t perfect, if one thinks you just gas and oil them They are gravely mistaken. Off the top of my head

My “bullet proof” 85 Runner with the 22re, needed a new engine at 125K. Oil pump failure was the issue. Fuel pump, birf rebuilds, u-joints, wheel bearings, alternator, starter.

The ‘92 ball joints and CVs at 80K, a clutch, wheel bearings, u-joints, starter. Sold it at 150K.

‘99 Timing belt/water pump at 90K, and long list of other things too. Had three 3rd members in that truck, axle bearings, couple clutches, varies leaks, fuel pumps, rebuilt the front and rear suspension 3 times, three power steering racks, couple alternators, starter rebuilds, and a bunch of stuff over the years have a stack of repair slips in the glove box. It is at Toyota right now getting a new engine. Finally gave up the ghost at 435K, which is a pretty good run, not complaining, however lots of other shit failed around it, whole truck has been practically rebuilt.

We will see how the ‘21 does, only planning of running it to 100K though.

Not even sure why Toyota owners go on and on about reliability and longevity, fairly rare that anyone keeps a vehicle for 500,000 miles. People get too bored and want new and shiny! Have you seen the ‘24 Tacoma yet!? lol!

Nah you’re just an outlier, every single Tacoma ever made has made it to 400,000 miles with just oil changes. I’m sick of the Ford and GM love too. /s

also innovation breeds competition. Toyota will make a better truck because of it. Also it’s not like Tacoma will lose sales crown to the other 3 trucks. GM and Ford share a plant with other models, it’s physically impossible for them to produce more than Toyota. This Toyota will always have the volume crown.

If it has breasticles or wheels it is gonna give a trouble!

Was looking at some used Forest Service 1 Ton trucks at a dealer for a beater camper for running around the back roads of Idaho, he asked so what do you like, Ford? Chevy? Dodge?….told him, meh they are all shit. He chuckled. See you drive a Tacoma, so a Toyota guy? Ahhh….don’t get me started! lol!

I know this is a tough ask in a Toyota forum but could you guys with Ford knowledge talk about some of issues with Ford in general. Known problems etc. I am a bit intrigued with the Ranger Raptor but would need to do a lot of research to feel comfortable with a switch to Ford.

Probably biased but I think the '24 TRD Pro looks so much better than this Raptor. Not even close.

I'm aware of that. However, the Lexus NX350 and the Tacoma are very different driving styles/use cases. It needs to be proven out in a truck platform.
