i hate to even get into this but the main reason ford is going to survive (without bailouts) is they have large interests in foriegn car markets....ie. mazda, volvo, jaguar. hell the mazda b2000 pickups were built on the same assembly line that the rangers were built on

God damn guys... If it's not Toyota you all hate it. What the fuck is up with some of you?

Does Toyota make a truck that will pull a 24' goose neck trailer?

Large interests? I don't even think they have any interest in Jaguar anymore and their stake in Mazda has become less and less they only own a small portion of Mazda now and they're not going to be sharing much anymore going forward. It's not like companies like GM aren't large in foreign markets. Buick is huge in China. They have their foreign subsidiaries Opel, Vauxhall, and Holden. Chevy is big in the Middle Eastern markets as well.

that may have something to do with why they are still healthy(ish) but the reason they will survive is because they are making cars people want instead of making random shit and trying to force it on people. there is not a single car or truck that Dodge and GM makes that i want. but i'm seeing alot of good looking fords on teh road. hell, they used a damn ford in casino royal and it looked good! is that the first American car james bond has ever driven (that was stock)? they are on the right track

Mine won't pull a damn thing. The rear tires would be slammed into the fender wells if I hooked up to any trailer around here that I need to pull. Horse trailer, cow trailer, the only thing it would pull would be a damn 5x8 trailer with a lawnmower on it, and it's weak as piss when you put that behind it. Toyota is not GOD people, these trucks are good for DD, and offroading. That's it, nothing else. I do love my truck for what I can do with it though.

At least when I had my 6.0 I had 400+ rear wheel horse, could pull anything I wanted, could wheel with it if I wanted to trash a truck that had a $50,000 sticker price,( it did go offroad several times, more than my current truck has went ) and it still got 18mpg. oh well, she's long gone. :(

i'm simply stating that this is the reasonford doesn't need the bailout money. global sales of the ford focus totalled 941,938 in 2000. 1 out of every 40 cars sold around the world is a ford focus

I know what you're saying, but it's still getting back to the same basic concept of Ford building cars people want. It's not that they necessarily have more exposure, it's just better product. GM hasn't been able to build a good small car that people want. Whereas the Focus has been a good car and very popular since it's inception. What's Chevy's answer for a small car? The POS Cobalt. That's not going to compete with your Focus and your Corollas, etc. The new Chevy Cruze coming out is probably the best attempt at building a small car of them.

i was just joking about the gooseneck but i feel i must respond to thi....why? i dont know. but any way i used to tow an almost 4000 lb boat to and from the boat ramp and launch and pull out said boat without even the slightest problem. i do have the towing package and occasionally i would have to put it 4x4 when the ramp was especially slick.

I've only had my Taco for 6mos. and I love it so far for what I bought it for{running around, hauling light shit around house, hunting, etc]. It hasn't proven anything yet because I've only had it a short time. My other truck that I work out of is a F250 4wd with the 6.8l V10. Loaded with tools, has hauled my 30' tt back &forth across the ctry. for 177000 miles and still runs like new. Ilove it for what I bought it for. This is my 4th Ford. The reason for so many fleet Fords .

It's cool and all, but I'd rather build my own truck rather than have it come from the factory with fancy stuff. :p

For the price and what comes with it, I like it. I just would never buy it. I would test drive one though... :D
