So I've these up fitter switches and I was playing around with them. Looks like they'll fit in the cubby on the left side with some minimal cutting.

I dont have the wiring harness, just the switches at this point.

Seem like a cool project or no?

They are plug and play with a ford harness so I'll need to source that little plug (or the whole harness) but it should just be a standard 12v arrangement right?

    11/25/2016

Decided to go ahead and do it..

This thread on the F150 forum gives you all the info you need on the wiring harness and schematic.

@nevadabugle thread convinced me to go ahead and give it a shot

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/wiring-an-aux-fuse-block-relays-and-switches-in-a-2016.401253/

There was a suggestion in there to use a trailer brake wiring harness to tap into power located here:

Using a brake harness allows you to just plug into that connector without actually splicing into the wires. The only problem was that the way the brake connector is wired requires you to adjust some of the connections to get power and lights. Relatively simple to move the connections around to where you need them in the plug. Pull this piece out...

And move the wires to the correct location.

All I needed was the black and red wires so the blue and white were removed completely.

Next thing was to figure out where to mount the relay box. I'll say that this was one of the biggest PITA's. Had to cut down the ford bracket and fab up some supports to mount it here:

Its up out of the way but close enough if I need to get in it. Made some supports out of what I had here at the house. Not the most pro looking but its what I had and gets the job done

You have to cut off the Ford plug that gives you power and lights so I did that. The 2 purple wires get mated to the trailer brake plug. I put connectors on the 4 wires that go to a fuse panel now but didn't wire those yet. Going to get a blue sea setup for that shortly.

Here is the relay box mounted and wired up

Last step was to get the switches into the panel. Required some dremel work to widen the opening where the coin slot was and necessitated removal of some plastic inside the dash to get it to fit. You can see what was removed here. I cleaned up the rough edges with a file but didn't take a pic of that.

Just plug everything in and snap it back into place

and here is is with the lights on. The backlight is blue which I think looks relatively close to factory.

Next step is to get a fuse panel and breaker under the hood and get the wires run to it. I've ordered some Cali raised ditch lights so that will be the first thing run to the switches. LED bar down the road.....

If you need them, this seems like a great factory looking solution.

Yea, I was surprised as to how good that would look in that spot with minimal work. Its the wiring part thats got me wondering...

Just take your multi tester and check continuity across those pins. I'd guess each switch has two pins.

Did you read the description, it says "Part includes Relay Block, Relays and Fuse." That's why it costs $100.

Yes, but you can buy relays for a couple bucks a piece.

Oh, ok. Yeah, the hard part would be then to find "just" the pig tail to plug into the switch panel.

If I were using that panel I'd solder wire straight to the pins. If I could get the back panel off without destroying it, I'd solder straight to the board.

I'm going to try and swing by the dealership this week and see what I can get parts wise. Its a Ford/Toyota dealer so the parts department can get both.

    But heres the question......

If I get the ford harness which comes with relays, do I need to order any wiring components when I get a light bar or ditch lights? Seems like I can just connect them to this setup right?
