Some of those remote spots may not get another soul, may get hit with some 4X4's or kids partying, don't know. May be the only one. I'm a short distance away in Meadow Valley.

Awesome pictures! My parents just retired to Forest Hill this year, and I just got my first Taco! Can't wait to go explore and fish in the area. Any tips for a newb for fishing spots?

Hey y’all I sorta abandoned the group since I moved up to Bend Oregon but I’m thinking of coming down to Shasta area for a camping trip end of the month. Would anyone be willing to Pm me any cool spots or routes they know of that aren’t very crowded? Hoping to camp on water, pick up all our own trash and generally others too and don’t shoot guns off all over. We’re a pretty low key group and won’t wreck anyone’s spots.

We go up every year normally 4th of July weekend. Used to be a ghost town unless you had a good rig and knew about it. Now due to side by sides it can get pretty busy in there

Caveat: I've never done any of these trails.

That said, I've thrown a bunch of routes in Gaia that I've found either in books or in various locations on the internet (all public), so I'll link those in case no one responds here and they give you some ideas:
    Toad Lake Trail
    Military Pass
    Mt Shasta Loop
    McCloud River Road
    Grizzly Peak Trail
    Iron Canyon Reservoir Trail

Thank you man I appreciate it! Toad Lake looks really sweet, I’ll need to check out some maps to see if there’s room towards the end of the road for 3 trucks with RTTs. Looks gorgeous though

How’s Bowman lake in October? I’ve never been and it’s a consideration for Columbus weekend. Some people coming on the trip have 2wd vehicles.

I went last October and weather was great. Camped at Sawmill and caught a few fish. Went back in November and camped at the campground on Canyon Creek and it was great. Got pretty cold at night but I was fine in my 0 degree bag.

Lots of people or pretty mellow? And how’s access? Is there a graded road in suitable for passenger cars?

We saw a few people in October but we went pretty far in so there was definitely less traffic. One other group near our dispersed campground. The bridge is down on Bowman rd so a car can’t get through there but a 2wd truck can. I think there is a back way in? Not too sure.

There's a couple of back ways. There's no way a 2wd is taking the road down from Jackson Meadows IMO, but there's another way if you go the long way out from Nevada City - I've never taken that road, but based on the USFS map it is probably graded. Regardless, I probably wouldn't bring a passenger car out - the area around Bowman itself is probably high-clearance 2wd (truck/suv) only.

You might ask in the camping, wheeling, and shenanigans thread too - a lot of those guys are around Bowman frequently and might have different takes.

Well, it's not every day that I get to go camping with my dad, and it's not that often that I camp in the same spot for more than one night. I mean, I guess we camped in the same spot two nights in a row on the Idaho BDR when a brake caliper seized up, but that was clearly an exceptional situation! :D Plus, after last year's adventure - my first time experiencing one of Pops favorite spots in the Sierras - I knew this was a place that I wanted to return. Likely, for years to come. It really is a special place.

So, early in the summer, we arranged a week where we could get together and just go enjoy the outdoors. I forget exactly when that was going to be, but as seems to happen in life, life got in the way and we had to cancel. It was a bummer to say the least, so it was awesome that a few months later we were each able to squeak several days into our schedule to pop down to ************* for a few days.

Dude, I am constantly impressed by both your photography and your discipline to process those photos and write up each trip so promptly and in such a detailed way. Bravo!
