May have mine by then. That was one of the places I wanted to go. Going to hiking past it sometime in August as we take the pct from Sonora Pass to Tuolumne Meadows or visa/versa.

I'd love to hit up Leavitt. I plan to go anyway so if ya want to go up as a group, I'd be down.

Might be August before they open the pass

I just read somewhere that the snow pack is at 150% of average...

And I noticed I spelled Leavitt wrong. Fat phone fingers.

Leavitt wont be open till late june. Too much snow and they are real protective of the road. We all hike in to fish cause after the road opens the lake becomes pretty fished out.

Hey guys, just found this thread. I'm a long time lurker haha.
I am in for some serious exploring this year. I'm up in Truckee and have a few spots we could go...
Heading out on 108 sounds awesome. I have done some snowmobiling out there, but never camped in the summer in that area.
The wife and I ran all of Baja last summer (hot as shit), so now I'm itching to get out there once it stops snowing!

Just got this at work today:

Woot woot! The gate at Eagle meadows usually stays closed though until the snow melts.

Do ya'll think Leavitt Lake is stock-accessible? If not, wondering what I should do to prep for an August trip. My birthday is Aug 11 and the idea of wheeling and kayaking is gaining steam...

I have done it in many stock vehicles including a second gen Tacoma.

But I thing it'll be a wait and see kind of thing. I don't live too far so once they open it I can give a trip report.

It's a beautiful spot for camping/hiking/fishing etc and just far enough out to keep the crowds to a minimum.
