Forgot to change the filter when changing the oil

    is that what you would do Steve? I remember you. You are the guy that advised me that by skipping a gear while shifting was going to damage the synchronizers in my 6 speed X Runner. You give great advice lol. Still waiting for explanation on that one.

    OP concerning the filter. Put a new one on and top off with fresh oil you are fine. Licensed mechanic since 1978 advice

    @edteach has the 4-cyl, according to one his older posts. Not as clean to change the filter but whatever. I would've just changed the filter and topped off the oil.

    exactly, why would Toyota ever change this? filter on top is so much better and easier!

    At least you didn't forget the oil, and changed the filter.....
