AVS aeroskin smoke hood protector installed. Cheap, ($60), and good. Repaint clear coat due to rock chips? No problem. Repairing cracked carbon fiber can get expensive. My only gripe about this product is it should wrap the leading edge a little better. I could have gone with the bulkier AVS bug shield but this offers some protection and looks way better IMO.

 

ADD W1 catch can full of fuel and oil at 3k miles supercharged. This 3.5L puts out a lot of blow by.

Now that the truck has water methanol injection, the 84mm pulley is reinstalled.

Prototype custom made matte carbon fiber TRD Pro shift knob installed. I may be offering this on an exchange basis going forward… Not cheap though.

 

@Formidable I am wondering what your impression is of the water/meth injection? What do you notice?

 

I’m working with @mZiggy at Yotawerx Tuning to incrementally advance the timing with water/meth injection beyond what would normally be possible on stock fuel. I have the water/meth injection start at 2 psi and ramp up to 15 psi. So the system is never maxed out and we have room to add more if we need to, (the truck never sees more than 9 psi). So far the truck likes the cooler air charge and higher octane on the smaller 87mm pulley. Will have a dyno soon to demonstrate the tangible gains that are seen. So far, all positives.

 

Hey quick question for you, I have a 2021 TRD Pro and I wanted to install the SS3's as well. Do you have a picture of just the fog light beam pattern since ss3 installed? I wanted to see if that plastic rigid bar obstructed the light output. Thank you so much.

BTF Fabrication stock length, caster adjusted lower control arms to be installed. Will move the front wheels roughly 1” forward for more body mount and firewall clearance. Should be able to get caster into the +5 range.

Workmanship is top notch. Powder coating is legit and not the cheap crap I’m used to seeing on some offroad parts.

 

Wow! Really nice LCA. Those welds look amazing. I didn't know these were even an option or I'd take a close look at them. For now I have TC. Great build my brother!

 

Thanks man! They just came out. This is part of the first production batch at BTF. Seems ridiculous to need a CMC just to run 33”s on these Tacomas and this will offer folks additional clearance. I like that they kept a sealed LBJ instead of uniball. Where I live, they salt the roads regularly during the winter. Uniballs and heims get nasty quick!

 

Curious on how those LCAs perform. One of the nicest and coolest builds on TW.

 

Thanks! Just had Vince Stanton install the BTF LCA’s today. Moves the wheel forward about 3/4”. Build quality is top notch. Can see the difference overlapped on the stock LCA. Also the additional clearance at the CMC was measured before and after.

Also had Vince Stanton install rebuilt TRD Pro shocks today. If anyone in the seattle area needs work done I highly recommend him.

 

Could you post up pics of the back of the rigid fog bezels? Would be interested to do the same thing. And I don't want to cut too much.

How is the width of output on the fogs? Does the rigid fog bezels get in the way? As I know they have a larger blockage than the traditional fog bezels.

 

Minimal clearance is necessary. Honestly you’re not going to gain anything by going with the OEM housing over the Rigid. Since installing the DD I’ve never once thought… Hmm… I need more lateral output. The DD fogs blow the Rigids out of the water in every aspect including overall output, center flood, lateral flood, beam cut off, visible color, (actual lens vs amber cover). The Rigid housing was retained just for that OEM + look. They are garbage otherwise.

Comparison pic taken on a slant with beam aimed up on purpose to demonstrate the difference. It’s literally a night and day upgrade.
