    Ohhhhkayyy so litterally the first day I drove my Tacoma off the lot FCA Slammed the brakes on me when no one was in front of me and almost got me rear ended. The following day, on my way back to the dealer it did it to me again. They've looked it over told me nothing is wrong with it. Every 5,000 mile service checkup I bring this up because it happens to me every single day.

    2 months ago a TSB came out about defective Forward radar waveguides. Mine was not replaced as they claimed it wasn't effected.

    I finally installed a dashcam to catch it and caught a video of it doing it while i was completely alone on the road. Not another car anywhere in sight. The dealer has had it for 72 hours they called to tell me they think I am hearing the lane departure beep and mistaking what that means.

    Now I've had this truck for a year and have just over 25,000 miles on it so I'm really pissed about that response because not only do I drive with lane departure off (I work in Chicago, the lines are more like suggested paths that no one listens to) but if lane departure was what was going off, my truck wouldn't be brake checking me when I'm doing 75MPH. The number of extreme close calls I've had in the last year with this truck are enormous when people are behind me and the truck brake slams for absolutely no reason.

    This is almost to the point where I want to sell my Tacoma because the damn thing is trying to kill me. Am I the only one having an issue with this? Is this common? What do I need to do to get this to stop...

    Pull the fuse until you can get a handle on it.

    this has got to be covered under the recall that we all were affected by. Mine was not as severe as yours, but it would phantom "BRAKE!" 1-2 times a month. After the recall that went away. It was a recall, and not a TSB. Check the owner website and see if there are any recalls.

    I'm just about to that point :(

    &&&&&

    I wish, it can't be turned off in software and pulling the fuse also stops cruise control from work which I use daily on the highway. Same system apparently handles both.

    Well they had my truck for like 6 hours testing the recalled sensor and they said it was functioning properly but they did a tab update to the software to help with the issue and it changed nothing

    I've experienced the same issue several times while it detected another vehicle making a left turn, other that that it has been pretty accurate. Don't give up just take it to another dealer show them the video and see what they have to say.

    If you want it off have them go into techstream and change the setting to disable “automatic on”. So you can just turn it off and not worry about turning it off every time you start ignition. You might have to pay but there’s no reason for them to not. Or you/friend could with techstream.

    I’m pretty sure there is 2 types of cruise control- the adaptive or something that brakes/slows down for you automatically and when it’s turned off you can still use standard cruise control… when you have to brake/slow down manually (now tbh I’ve never even turned on cruise since I got mine but pretty sure)

    They think you're mistaking the fact that your truck slams the brakes on itself for the sound of a beep? What the...that's insane lol

    Yes it will if your closing speed and distance (combined) insinuate a collision. BUT, these systems will disengage when speeds drop below 25 MPH ( or will not function at all @ < 25 MPH)

    ah... ok i've only had it come on at slow speeds. other than the random ghost alerts. Mine seems to detect overpasses and light up.... never has braked, though, luckily

    Sensor is probably bad. Just get a new one and be done with it.

    No sense in replacing the truck over it.

    I read that as, "my truck is trying to kill me, and almost has, but I can't be bothered by inconvenience."
