I wanted to see if anyone had a set of black or smoked corner lights laying around before I order a stock pair to paint. I'm going from aftermarket one-piece headlight/corner lights to OEM retro-fitted headlights. Thanks!

Should have prefaced this by saying that I've checked all the major parts sites, Amazon included. Unfortunately, the ones available are for either pre-01 or come as a package with the smoked headlight housings. I did however stumble upon the purple degreaser trick so I'll probably give that a try if I don't find any.

Apparently, if you dunk stock or factory chrome style reflectors in purple degreaser, it will remove all the chrome lining essentially making them "blacked out." That way you don't need to break them open and paint.

Can confirm. This worked like a charm. Takes the chrome off in about 5 minutes.

Learned something new in the marketplace. These are 01 and come by themselves, not blacked out though. On Amazon

Yes. I started with a non-chrome trim pair and used the purple power trick on them. They were Depo brand for about 30 bucks.

These were the ones. $10 bucks worth of Purple Power concentrate, and you've got yourself blacked out corner lights. FYI, I've looked high and low, and I don't believe you can buy the 01-04 black corner lights just by themselves. This turned out to be a good option.
