Found a cap on craigslist, but will it fit?

Hi all,

I'm Tucker, I've got a 2011 access cab (who I've named Joey).

I'm a recent (yesterday) college grad and I'm looking to live on the road for awhile, and I'm turning the bed into a sleeping space. I'm sure I will have more questions, but for the moment, I've a simple question.

I measured my bed, and the bed itself is 58", which is the same as the cap, which is problematic. I'm worried the cap isn't wide enough to fit.

Does anyone know if the old Ranger beds were significantly thinner than the tacoma?

They're too narrow. Not enough of the base of the shell will fit on the top of the bed rails to get any sort of a good seal on the edges, so you'll probably get wet in the bed with that topper.

I'd keep looking and find one for the Taco. If you're willing to roadtrip, there's a guy in the Georgia subforum who just listed a 2nd gen topper for sale for $200!

What they said, get one made for a 2nd generation Tacoma. The access cab and the dbl cab have the same profile at the rear of the cab, the single/regular cab has a different profile. So look for a long bed dbl cab or A/C fit.
