^ gotcha thanks and chance (the cat) does have his on personal space to go to.

I'm pretty sure he knows I'm the alpha and not him (watching that ceaser guy on tv lol) and he always makes sure I walk through the door first.

I was talking to mom for a minute and he waited at the door for me then when I went in he followed.

Im trying my best to help him and hopefully he understands the do's and dont's he did also nip at be when we were running and playing and I told him "NO" and he didn't do it again. So hoping for the best lol

He seems kind of anxious today, I didn't get to play with him like yesterday so I'm guessing thats why he wants to keep going out lol

Exercise is the best solution to a ton of issues. People will sometimes get a dog and then think its enough to let it run around the back yard. Mine need at least an hour's worth of walking/running every day to stay normal, less than that and they start getting bored and a little crazy.

The 2 dogs I had before my current one's I both found, on 2 different days. My best dog ever I picked up in a resturaunt parking lot one night in the pouring rain, right next to a highway. He had an electric collar on, a license tag, and a rope tied around his neck. He hopped right into the back of my car and slept at the foot of the bed, on the floor, the first night. The next day I called the dog officer and they gave me the name and number of the "owner" the tag was registered to. When I called to tell them I found their dog, a guy answered and claimed his dog was sitting right there in front of him. I asked him what kind of dog he had and he hung up the phone, so I can only assume the guy either didn't like or didn't care much about his dog. Turned out the be the best dog I'd ever had and probably ever will have.

Sounds like alot of people I know! LOL:p

Oh if you put him in a cage (I refer to it as his own bedroom) make it fun for him. You may have to treat him to death to get him to go in but make it work with love...Don't force him. Let him go in get the food then leave. Try that a couple times a day then he will understand it's his space. Also when you pick up after him throw all of his toys in his bedroom as well. He'll come to understand that is his space.

    He is doing great!!!

He HATES cages, I put him in a plastic cage and he chewed through it, he cut his gums (got him checked he's ok)

So now he does not go in the cage at all because Im guessing someone left him in the cage or beat him in a cage.

He does fine though when I leave, when I come home he whines a little but I pet him and tell him its ok and he is fine.

    Doesnt chew anything up.

I got him a lot of toys LOL

He is chipped got his shots, he is doing good.

He loves it here, we play at least once a day, he sleeps with my fiancee when I get called out which makes her feel better.

He seems pretty loyal, and just a good dog.

The cat and him are getting a long now, they actually play like hard core the cat runs through the house and he chases him then the cat runs underneath him, then he will catch the cat and they just play its great.

Everytime I leave I feel bad for him but once spring comes around we're going to build him a nice dog box outside see if he likes that better or not.

Again, it's great that you took him in and gave him a great home.

I hope you don't plan on leaving him outside without you (from your note about building a dog box). Dogs are pack animals, they thrive on the companionship of their "pack" members. That's you and your family (including the cat). Folks think that dogs "need fresh air" and tie them up or leave them in a fenced yard, alone. This is not what dogs want or need. Don't feel guilty. If he's not tearing stuff up, then he is great as is. Most dogs sleep a lot, so he probably sleeps when you are not there. When you are there, he want to be with you, where ever you are. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah I'm glad I did, he is a GREAT dog.

He is very protective over my fiancee as well which makes me feel good.

He jumps up in bed with us to and gets right inbetween us and we laugh and play.

He's a ot safer inside than outside when you are gone. Also smaller chance of fleas, ticks, heart worm, theft, etc inside the house.

not a good idea. i had a dog that would get out of the yard if he thought i was gone... since your dog was a stray i would say that there is a good chance he went looking for someone once and didn't find his way home.

Also, not sure if this was touched on before, but as relates to the cat . . . try and make sure Buddy can't get to the litter box. Many dogs find cat poo tasty. *shudder*

I have a dog and a cat, and I aim litterbox opening into a corner so the dog can't get back there and stick her head in. It's an igloo-style cat box.

Not sure if you've had it happen yet, but I've had a few dogs do this so in my experience it just seems like a matter of time. And it's SUPER gross when your dog wants to lick you and play and you know that's what's been in his/her mouth. ;)

Haha.. yeaaaa some dogs love to eat shit. our cat litter box is in the basement where the dogs cant get to it, but our black lab loves to eat our yellow labs shit, as well as anything else she can find left behind by animals in the yard.. mostly rabbit droppings.

But im real happy you still have the dog! Congrats bud! I was wondering if the owner would claim it, but now he's yours!

you should post some pics of the dog in the taco.. (sorry if u did and i missed them..)
