Found a killer deal on a truck! It sounds fishy though.

Keep in mind not all repairs are shown by carfax.
Example if the dealer damages the car and fixes it it may not be shown on carfax.
Test drive it and look for signs of body repair in fit and finish ect.
Look underneath for Off Road damage, ect.
    Buyer beware

I bought mine with 41 miles on it new for 28,400 :D

OP That sounds like a great deal. Go check it out quick and let us know how it works out. Make sure you look at the truck from all angles too to see if there is any variation of paint color where they may have repainted it from something. Check everywhere to see if there is road dirt where there should be road dirt.

Okay. I'm definitely going to look over the truck really well and listen to everything during the test drive. I will admit this isn't the first time I've seen a great deal like this before and trucks haven't had troubles. I called them today and I know the whole story about the truck. The last guy to buy it thought it could tow a 30 foot trailer. Which of course they didn't. So he sold it took get a bigger truck. Not for problem reasons. But I will definitely look at it really well.

I know. I will look over everything. As long as I see that's it's been serviced lately like it should be and I don't see or hear anything wrong about it, I might bring her home.

Sounds like a good deal. Below what they could get for it but not ridiculously low to the point where its a "too good to be true" deal.

The truck books for a little above $30k. Of course they couldn't get that for it, but still.

I bought my Tacoma used from a dealership for 2k below bluebook. The reason I got from the dealership for it being so cheap was that they had made a low offer to the person trading it in and they took it so they sold it for cheap. I haven't had any problems with it yet so I tend to think it was true

Dealers are notoriously careless with their descriptions.

I bet you get there and it turns out to be a pre runner.

Yea, it sounds more like "priced to sell" then "too good to be true". Blue book is way high on these trucks for some reason. You could probably go buy a new tacoma, then blue book it as used that day and have it show higher then what you paid. That's why it might sound too good. That, plus people ask way too much for their used tacoma. Like people selling their 2010 and 2011s for 29-31k. I can go buy a brand new one for right at 30k, and even cheaper if I am patient and haggle with a couple dealers. That's why you'll see these things in the classifieds for a month with little interest, and multiple price drops until it sells, or the owner just keeps it. I know it's a tacoma and all, but it doesn't have gold falling out of it's exhaust pipe.

I'd look it over, but def don't pass b/c you're worried about a possible hidden problem. It should still be under warranty, so any thing major is covered. Lot of times dealers will pick up vehicles not really in their main target area on a trade, and list them for sale with little gain just to move it quickly and make some dough. Instead of sitting on it and losing money.

Try telling that to the dealer here. They would ask $1000 less than a new one for that and get it.

I got my 07 double can short bed off road lifted with 28k miles for 23999 in 2010... They started it at 27999 but then dropped it and them I talked em down. Dealerships are just trying to get rid of trucks, no ones wanting to buy with gas prices.it makes sense to me. Fwiw, fuck car fax I do t trust that one bit. Take it to a local trusted mechanic and have em check it out before u do anything.

I bought my truck a 2010 SR5 DC with 11K on it. It was a loaner and the dealer just put it on the floor when I walked in, for 245K. Check it out really quick and bought it on the spot. I had checked out about 4 other dealer before. I've had no problems with the truck except the heater motor ticking but that was under warranty. Sometime there are deals out there. Good Luck

Good points everyone. So the story of this truck is that the first owner leased the truck for a year. And as said before in an earlier post, the second owner traded for a bigger truck since they couldn't tow what they wanted to. I think it's legit, but I will get it looked at before handing the dealers money.

Depends on what the dealer gave for trade and what they did to it. Toyota dealer I used to work for their cars are overpriced. They also would have most of major service done and tires/brakes replaced if they were under 50% in the used car check. The Toyota dealer I work at now has really low prices, but there sales people arent commission based, and they sometimes dont replace brakes/tires if they are below 50% or really do all the stuff on major services. All depends on how the dealership is set up.

current example from websites right now...

old dealer - 08 DC 4x4 base model, 53k miles, V6, auto $23k <-- stock tires in pic but cant tell if original or not

new dealer - 09 DC 4x4, TRD SR5, 33k miles, V6, auto $24k <-- tires in pic not stock so has new tires

I thought that too. The tires aren't stock so they must have replaced them. Is that a good sign?

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
You have to get underneath and make sure its original dirt under there and check the paint isn't newer on some body panels. I bet it's got a new beak but prove me wrong and go for it. Sometimes there actually are nice trucks for sale out there. Good luck!

Thanks. I just hope it's still a good truck. I'll make sure the dirt is still there. Recently I've been finding deals like this that amaze me. I'm mainly interested in this one because it's real close to here. I'm guessing I'm finding deals like this because of what gas is supposed to be and summer is approaching and 4x4 isn't needed for the roads and dealers are just wanting to get rid of them. I've even found another 2010 but silver with only 21k miles for $27k. Which is a good deal too. And from what a few others have said in the thread of deals they found or got.
