I've been searching for a topper for my 2004 double cab. Found one listed at a local salvage yard off an 01 double cab that was in a front end collision (it had 83K miles). Note sure the age of the topper (any info on the inside to figure out when manufactured?)

What should I look for when buying it (check the seal, wiring, operations of doors and windows or anything else ?) I will get a good look at it tomorrow - also curious if I can detect any damage due to the collision? cracks or ?

Also, should I just immediately install it at the salvage yard? Or would you slide it into the bed and haul it off to install it later? if I do put it in the bed without installing any tips for transporting.

    Thanks - Bob

Easiest way would be to clamp it on and then take your time sealing it up when you get home.
