You gun obsessed hillbillies crack me up. "I want an AR-15 because I can." LMAO!!! Good reason. "I need to protect my family". What the hell from? The Chinese? Oh wait, I know our totally crazy second coming of the Third Reich Government. Go back to the mountains. **RANT OFF*

P.S. I totally think TW is awesome (including brianr, he's helped me a few times on here), but topics of Guns, Politics, Sex, and Religion should not be allowed for discussion. Well ok, maybe Sex. They seem to cause to much drama.

What the hell? Why do we lift our trucks 6 inches? Why do we put winches and lockers and whatever in the hell else on them? I don't know any body that "needs" that stuff to get to work and back. They do it because they enjoy it. It also seems like a good investment right now to me. It's not going to stop me from getting killed by our gov't. if they decided to do that (I don't believe they have this in their plans). They are hard to find from what I can tell, I like to shoot, I might be able to sell it for more later than what I paid, more than I can say for my 401k. I wish I lived in the mountains, those are some of the most logical, down to earth people I've ever met *RANT OFF*:)

    BUILT, not bought...

-1st, I'm not a hillbilly, and I think J-Billy Hillbillytaco (jeremy) will be upset you are picking on hillbillies. (even though technically I live in a trailer right, I guess I'm "trailer trash").

-2nd. thanks, I'm glad I could be of help.

-3rd. I want an AR15 becasue I want to protect myself from the gov't (the main reason our founding fathers gave us the 2nd amendent in the first place).

What can I say I dislike guns. I totally understand the basic handguns, hunting rifles, and shotguns. You can use them to defend yourself, hunt, and provide for a family so to speak. I just don't get the assault rifle argument. Military fine, Police S.W.A.T. fine, the average Joe doesn't need a gun like this...period.

Also, everything I have done to my truck has not been "just because", but for making my truck more capable when I am up north camping, fishing, and accessing the back logging roads. I do not own a mall crawler thank you very much.

NOTE: I totally deserved to be flamed since I have been an ass and hi-jacked this thread. I have done my RANT and will leave you fine gentlemen to your discussion.

$1,100 is way to much for an Armalite A2. If you're really intent on buying an AR be patient and shop around. I picked up a Rock River Arms Elite CAR A4 with the works (Quad Free Float, Tactical A2 Upper, Foregrip, Magpul railguards, etc) for $975 last month. The good deals are out there, don't get caught up in the "gotta buy one right now before ***** bans them all" crap. I would suggest calling up all your local FFL dealers and see if they have any personal weapons they're looking to sell in order to free up funds for another project. Alot of these guys have guns they've built to the above specs, shot them 50 times to break them in and then just put them in the vault with their 20 other personal firearms for a rainy day.

Well put, as I hi-jacked the thread as well. My opinion doesn't mean shit, if you want one get one, I just don't see the attraction.

I do live in the mountains jackass and why not have the same gun's the Goverment has it's only fair so what if the gun carries 30 rounds and is simi automatic so are most 22lr but they carry 16 rounds. I can hunt with it if I chose or shoot the shit out of some can's if I chose. It's about personal choice and it's people like you that want to take that away 'Free Choice' and if you don't like the drama dont go on the gun , Political, religion, thread's!! No one brought drama before you got into it. So it's best to keep off these if u don't like them.

They came for the Gypsies and I did not speak out because I am not a Gypsie.

Then they came for the Jews but I did not protest for I am not a Jew.

They came for the Catholics but I did not complain as I am not a Catholic.

    Then they came for me.

Ok first of all, why would someone who calls himself snyper be so opposed to firearm ownership? That baffles me... Second of all, maybe you've never been robbed at gunpoint, but i have. Im not saying that having an AR-15 laying around would have helped, but it couldnt have hurt... And last but not least, just because im from south mississippi, doesnt mean im a hillbilly...

I got this rig for 500 bucks from a guy at work who was moving. Its an Olympic Arms AR 15 w/ collapsible stock. Came w/ case, 4 30 rd mags, about 400 rounds, and a shitty red dot sight. Not sure how good it is, but 500 bucks sounded like a deal.

Not sure, but I know a lot of folks are worried about it and stocking up on stuff. I had a hard time recently finding JHP's for my 9mm here locally. Sucks...
