So I've been looking around for material to build another satoshi grille. I like perforated metal much more than mesh. I'm very picky and want the hole size and pattern to match that of the perforated metal in the OEM hood scoop. I've looked around at places that sell perforated metal and it's not cheap.

I work in the HVAC industry and the other day, I was doing a project walk in a building and noticed the ceiling grille has the exact pattern and size that I've been looking for. I came back to the office, went out to the warehouse and was able to dig out a 24x48 perforated grille.

The grille in its original form:

Removed from the frame (it's just held on my push tabs):

    The pattern:

A 24x48 grille should be enough to do 2 satoshi grille, or one grille and bumper

    Anyways, just thought I'd share.

I'll see if I can find another one on Monday when I'm back in my office. If not, I can sell you the left over half.

Can you find it in black, and will it rust?

It's metal just like any other metal grill that you get, so it will rust if left bare. Primer and paint it and it'll be fine. It's already powdercoated white from the factory, you get double the protection if you paint it.

You can order them in black. Black is not a common color for ceiling grilles. They usually come in white, sometimes gray.

Next time you're at the doctor's office, look up at the ceiling, if you see one, grab it and run. :p:p:p

Just kidding. Any HVAC supply shop should have it.

Talked to my vendor who we get them through at work. The whole grill assembly is $50. I'm trying to see if I can get just the perforated face for less. But at $50, it can do two satoshi. Which isn't a bad price.

You guys should check out grilleguy.com. I found this website the other day and bought 3 sqft. For about 50 bucks and you can get it powder coated black.
