i am very much baffled on that whole insurance scheme and how the heck they value a vehicle in very nice overall tip top condition that is 20+ years old
i know i could never replace my truck for $4k payout - deductiible

 

Mine is still worth almost ten grand! KBB values it at like $7,500 and Carfax says like $9,600.

Obviously dealerships and insurance companies have a different idea of what a 1st Gen Tacoma is worth...

It's insane what old Tacomas with over 100K miles are going for!

 

My, now missing, one was at 355k no problemo, which is why they still sell pretty high over 100k, still not even a fifth of where it can make it with good maintenance.

 

There's a guy with a 2007 2.7L 2WD who has over 1.2 million miles on his, and he replaced the engine at 880K.

If truck was low on gas, thief might have stopped at a gas station somewhere not too far to fill up, pointing you to an area where it could be or heading to if someone saw it. Or thief abandoned it as it ran out of gas

Also, it's common for thieves to abandon a vehicle in industrial areas or vacant lots or even in the forest, if you live near one

Then, regularly check local classified ads for a potential part-out of your truck (thief may try to sell the wheels, camper, etc...)

Sadly most companies aren't basing valuation on how reliable they are or what they go for on secondary, and stick to whatever KBB tells them. Ended up getting a specialized plan with Traveler's that covered all the custom parts and work I've put into mine so I don't have to worry about getting into an accident and flushing my investment down the drain.

 

Also, maybe post in the TW SouthWest Regional Forum. Just in case the truck is headed South through New Mexico to cross the border into Mexico. I will keep an eye out, but you need more eyes than mine, for sure. Good Luck.

 

I really hope you get it back, that must be a nightmare. I've never had a vehicle stolen from me before, but I imagine the violation of personal space must be horrible.
