How long a wait for the pistons?

 

Is it just me, or did you mod list recently grow exponentially?

 

Yep, H-Beam rods. Here are a couple of side-by-side shots with the stock ones.

Need to call LCE tomorrow to check, no reply to my email so far. I'm sure they are busy after their sale.

Yeah, it was a bit out of date, and adding a couple of things over the next two weeks. Cleaning up hose routing and some wiring.

 

One of these days, we need to meet up so that I can check out your truck!

 

I was thinking the same thing, once it's back up and running I'll have to hit up coffee and cars or a local meet. That picture is awesome, exactly how I feel when I get new stuff.

 

I spoke to LCE this morning, the pistons I ordered aren't in stock so they will have be manufactured, 3-4 weeks wait time. If I'm lucky I'll have them by Christmas, but probably not. Did get some good news today though, found a set of APR Exhaust cam gears and they should be heading my way soon. Another mod to add to the list.

 

You are an extremely lucky man, to get some cam gears.

 

Got my block back today, cylinders look beautiful, G&G did a great job. Inquired about a port & polish / +1mm over valve job, maybe in a few months once I recoup the costs of this round of repairs and upgrades.

 

I'm guessing too much boost on weak pistons?

 

Ring land are the first piece to go. Rods just don't like the raised RPMs. Most people are fine, that can't raise their RPM limit.

How much boost do you run, if you don't mind me asking?

 

Fuel pressure was getting up to 52PSI on that ride home, so around 8-8.5.

 

Nice surprise, got the cam gears before I got tracking info.

New Heat Exchanger



Longer and thicker, but shorter


1/2" NPT fittings

New 1 Gallon Aluminum Reservior with 1/2" NPT fittings



Also got an upgraded Bosch pump that Mercedes uses in their supercharged cars.

 

Finally got my pistons, rebuild will begin this weekend.

Damn! How did i miss that last round of updates?!?!?! That is a huge reservoir. Between that new exchanger and that reservoir, that coolant should be able to take some long boost pulls and or higher boost, before becoming saturated.

Being that your engine is about to be built, I have a hunch that those are both a strong possibility.

I'm excited for you. I've been down the rebuild road many a time. It excites me every time all the pieces come together and I get the engine back in. Just went to Kozmic Motorsports yesterday, to get them some measurements for the torque plates, as well as figure out allowable clearances for crank journals. So mine should be finished being machined within the coming weeks as well.
