For the Dakar rubber bushing, I used a 4-lb sledge using a 1-1/8" socket and some 4x4 wood blocks. Five hammer strikes and it came right out.

I replaced mine because it was moved to one side in the eye. I only noticed it when i took the leaf pack out for some maintenance. I don't know if it made any noise or not.

    Poly went in.

@300AACTaco that's a like a metal on metal noise. A few guys on here spoke about the front pads shifting on the caliper. I think you can get this resolved with the extra or lower springs that hold the pads in..? I have gotten/heard this noise once or twice before. I sometimes think it's the shaft of the coils rotating a bit. Not sure if you follow me..?

    @1rooster

Long time away but anyway some developments.

My front end is silent other than some slight clicking in my Whiteline LCA bushings. The ADS coils are working great.

All the rattling noise I am getting is actually from the rear end.

And the last one solved: UCA bolt was loose, allowing the bolt to move in the mount, and make noise.

For you guys with coilovers, check your lower mount. My Fox coilover on the driver's side was rotated slightly...not sure how or why...but it was enough to cause the lower mount on the CO to scrape against the fins on the LCA that the lower mount bolt goes through. This caused a binding sound going over big "whoops". I put a punch in one of the holes in the lower spring perch and rotated it. That solved my problem but not before one of the fins scraped the lower CO mount...oh well =/.

I replaced mine recently, didn't change the noises, but it did fix the vibration.

I am in the boat and lost. I have new Upper/lower UCA'S, new inner/outer tie robs and new upper/lower ball joints. I can't figure if mine problem is brakes or the fact that I just put on aftermarket wheels.

I do not have any noise driving down a gravel road or road trip on the highway. I only experience when coming to a stop with moderate braking and then after I release the brakes. Yes one would go straight to the brakes as the issue, but the springs are only designed to separate the pads from the rotor. The pins are the ones that set the pads in the caliper. I can see making noise going from a forward movement to a backwards movement and visa versa. But I get mine from a forward to a forward or a forward to a reverse movement.

I am curious about this diff drop and how would removing this stop noise? What was causing the noise in the drop kit?

If you replaced the ball joints in the stock arms you may have a loose BJ. They are not really meant to be replaced, and can move (<1mm) in the socket, just enough to make noise.

Id also check the bushings on both LCA and UCA for play (with a pry bar) that can make noise. Take the diff drop out, it's not doing anything for.you.

Separately, check torque on everything. The cuss alot, buy a full set.of @Dirt King Fab arms, and repeat after me: "Race truck parts, race truck noises".

I went with standard length replacements. Mostly because I didn't want to spring for glass fenders, new axles, and then deal with the back end being narrower. I'm also a DCLB 4x4, so loosing more turning radius is really bad.

If money were no object, I'd do a +2 LT kit. Based on collective experience, if you think you want LT, go LT the first time and save yourself selling a bunch of lightly used parts.....

You guys sure its not the steering shaft sections clunking?? These have a small amount of play where the sections meet near the firewall.

Dredging up an old thread, but thank you OP for helping me find the dreaded Dakar clunk! Mine have been popping/clunking for 6 months or so when flexing hard and side loading such as hitting a dip in the road while turning. After reading this thread, I got under the truck and saw a large gap between the front spring perch and the bushing. Ordering some poly bushings now.

    Too many to list...
I know this is largely an old thread, but thought I'd share my experience too if it helps anyone...

I had a serious clunk in the rear leaf springs (dakar medium duty) that was driving me mad. I replaced the front and rear leaf spring bushings with ES bushings - fit much better than the ones that were in the leafs originally. BUT, still had about the same clunk that occurred almost every time I cornered at low to medium speed and took bumps/driveways/speed humps at any angle other than straight on. I thought the spring eye was shifting in the mount due to the old bushings - this may have been happening, but after replacing the bushings the clunk was still there, only very slightly better. So, I lifted the truck back up on stands, let the axle hang so it wasn't loaded, and started going through all the leaf connections and shaking/testing things to find the noise. Well, turns out that the leaf second from the top (the one just below the leaf that includes the eyes/bushings) was shifting within the leaf pack, causing the exact clunking sound I experienced while driving.
SO, last night I took the bolt that retains the front leaf pack bracket out, pryed that bracket apart slightly, and slid a thin shim between the side of the leaves and that bracket. When the bolt was reinstalled and tightened, it made the leaves snug on both sides to that bracket and is keeping the leaves from sliding within the pack. So far, success! short test drive last night and drive to work this morning - no clunking when cornering or on bumps. :D

At some point I may add an additional "bracket" using 2 small plates and 2 bolts in front of the bracket I modified for extra strength/to relieve stress on the modified bracket, but it seems to work quite well for now. Some may think my solution is "ghetto..." it is... but it works for now

Short story - shimmed the front leaf bracket to hold the leaves tighter, and it solved my rear leaf clunking.
