I had a similar clunking sound that was periodic and turned out to be the crossmember under the transmission/transfer case.

Have you tightened these? There are two each side.

But why would those come loose just by adding a lift? Like I said I have this slight clunk, never on speed bumps or any real bumps. And when it does happen I am going kind of slow with the steering wheel turned some.

Yes. I think they are spec'd at 30ft-lbs IIRC.

Sounds like my problem exactly. Seems to happen on cold days.

i cant wait till someone figures out what this issue is. i have a 2015 that started making a loud "POP" noise randomly when i cut the wheel while parking or taking off. this never happened till i put the 6" lift on it

Subbed, I have the same problem with the rear of my truck after lift. It's seems to have something to do with lateral force as well. Everything has been checked and rechecked. I'm outta ideas at this point.

I've been dealing with this since new, 12000kms

On the steering bump stops, apply a bit of grease to each side. Smooth it out with your finger. Then try and recreate the pop. Go back and have at look at the grease and see if there is evidence of contact..

I'm pretty sure that could be your culprit.

I'm pretty sure that's where my pop is coming from when turning into or out of a driveway.image.jpg

Stiffer springs shift some flex to frame. That's why you notice pops after lift.

I get bad pops from OME/Dakar leafs after they've gotten wet. I feel it in floor and would swear it was from front but by selectively turning around speed bumps discovered it was the leaf packs popping. There are shiny spots from leafs rubbing the clamps and the plastic shows wear where it hasn't fallen out completely.

I had full OME on 2005 and now on a 2015. There are multiple sources of pops and squeaks. Fix 1 and you still get the others. I never got rid of it entirely on the 2005 and still working the list for the 2015 but suspect I'll once again just live with some pops & squeaks.

You can check and tighten all that's been suggested here to know you're safe at least. Then just live with whatever noises remain.

That is the steering stop. So when turning out of a driveway they seem to be contact and poppin( the two greased areas)

Mine pops at a 1/4 to 1/2 turn. So I know my issue has nothing to do with the steering stop making contact. Has it seemed to help quiet yours down? Or did it make it go away ?

I need a dang go pro to mount and then I can see what's moving and what's not!

If you are at full lock when coming into the driveway, I suggest swinging out more to prevent from going full lock coming in. Its best to prevent from going full lock unless needed, like when attempting a tight U-Turn.

With the rear it could also be the composite bed. Not necessarily the bed bolts needing to be tightened (though this could be an issue too), but more the mounting points that contact the chassis breaking down making it so the bed is no longer tight against the chassis. So you can torque the bolts all you want, but this won't fix the issue as there are sleeves within the holes to prevent from over tightening.

This is probably not very common, but just another thing to check out. There are vidoes on Youtube about this.

Yeah I hear what you're saying. But I don't believe im at full lock in most scenarios. I'm just making a 90 degree right turn.

At this point I'm willing to try all the little "check this" suggestions if for no other reason than being able to rule them out.

I don't have to be at full lock for it to pop either, but I have been at full lock for some of the pops. FWIW, the sway bar relocate has helped. Hasn't gotten rid of all the front end pops, but it has definitely helped.

I removed sway bar completely. No change in noises that i could tell.
    Tightening trans crossmember helped some.
Greasing leaf packs all over and between leaves helped for a while.

I had a similar thought about the leaf packs shifting. At first I thought it was the entire pack shifting at either the front or rear eye bolts (or rear shackle)...where the leafs mount to the frame. But I've torque the rear and shackles to spec, and wrenched down on the fronts as much as I could. Don't have a torque wrench adapter for them yet, but I'm guessing I've got close to, if not more than, 89ft-lbs on them.

Now after your post, I'm suspecting maybe the leafs are twisting side-to-side at the ends, where the little clamps are supposed to hold them together. The clamps don't sit up against the sides of the leafs, I'm guessing to give them some room to wiggle, but the wiggling ends up being more of a pop. I wonder if I could put some medium density rubber in the gaps so they still have some wiggle room, but not as much.
