I've serviced my father in law's '04 Sienna for most of it's life. The FIL is a cheap bastard and has never been willing to spend more than $25 for an OC. I switched to Walmart SuperTech High-Mileage 5w-30 conventional and either a SuperTech or Motorcraft filter many years ago. At 130k it runs smooth and strong and uses no oil in between changes.

Best drain plug I have ever used. Put it near metal and you'll see why I say that. I have had Greddy, Blox and others before on other cars.

Probably won't make a huge difference I just like to use it as a gauge in terms of wear and cheap insurance. And it wasn't expensive in the least.

Kind of like how I did the AC drain mod so it wasn't dripping on my frame.

Have to agree metal at 34k is not a good sign. If I'm still getting metal out of an oil change even at 10k, Something is wrong IMO. (unless your an idiot and that is your first change).

Yeah exactly. I used a guide for it and it popped up. Fits all 2GR engines from what I understand.

Are they expensive to do a standard oil analysis?

Blackstone's standard oil analysis is currently $35/test, with some options that might add a bit (like the optional Total Base Number to evaluate remaining life in the oil).

ISTR Blackstone are raising their price for basic oil analysis to $40/test at the start of the year.

I don't send in a sample every time for my vehicles. But often enough that I feel confident enough on what's going on.

Insomuch as it seems like Amsoil is more of a cult than an oil producer, they do offer a very good oil test at a fair price. The one without prepaid postage is even cheaper.

I used to have a used oil analysis done about once a year with my old jeep Liberty CRD. Its pretty impressive what it can tell you. Once i had a higher silicon than before. Turned out a latch on the air filter housing was broken and not sealing fully. Fixed it and the next time it was back to good. The testing is serious and can help you spot problems.
I did do one on my truck when it was new and recently at 35,000 miles. With oil changes every 5,000 all my breakin materials seem to be gone. Im also using 0w20 supertech synthetic.
