Coming up on a year. Glad I got it back. It’s a great truck. I enjoy it everyday. I’ve used the club on it every night since I got it back. I obviously can’t prove that it works but at least I’ve made it harder for them by causing them more time on site and forcing them to make noise.

    Another layer :)
Picked up this cheap remote door bell off Amazon. The sensors are battery powered and they send a signal to a receiver I keep plugged in in my bedroom. I drop one in the center console where the q charger is and if someone enters the truck into it’s line of site it wakes me up. Not sure what I’d do but I think letting my dog out would do the trick:)

they arrived pretty quickly, didn't have time to install until now. verified the pin connections and no crossover or shorts, i think its about 3 feet of cable on it. the alarm is tiny but quite loud in the cabin and has that warble that penetrates and makes it hard to stay in the front seat without ear protection. not using the little alarm as an alert to passerbys but rather to motivate them to get out of the truck.
any dongle that draws power will trigger the alarm. it has a momentary switch that resets the trip. it will blast on until the battery dies.
in order to relocate your obd and have the alarm, you do have to buy two of their kits.(90 bucks shipped) if you don't mind digging for the obd cable from time to time, just the siren kit is needed (45 shipped).
i haven't needed to go to a stealership yet but i wonder what i'll do when it comes to them needing to access it. showing some guy where your relocated obd port is seems like missing the purpose of relocating it to begin with

I hacked my OBD connector off and replaced it with a different connector. Then wired the other end of that connector to another obd cable that no acts as an adapter. No relocating anything. If you want to use my factory obd cable and you don’t have my adapter, you are going to have to build on site. Good luck.

Good idea. The smog techs dont crap their pants when they cant plug in to a oem odb2 port, or are in a non smog county? I left a bluetooth module plugged in and they threw a fit that I was running a tuner and wanted to fail me, cant imagine what would happen if I told them they had to use my adapter.

Inspection time I plug my adapter in, fit it into the stock bracket, head in. Other than color it should mimic factory pretty close. I can’t imagine what an emissions tech would say when I handed them the adapter and said use this. Especially in CA.

Now if the tech somehow knows the factory connector is white and mine is black then I don’t know. Otherwise they shouldn’t have a clue anything is different.
